Can't wait for Disney Christmas! Any tips????????

Well we just booked our next trip. We are staying at the WL from Dec 9-16. I can't wait to see the world at Christmas. I've been to WDW 20+ times, but because I'm in the education field, I've never been there for Christmas. My new job allows me a little more flexibility. We have already bought the tickets to the Christmas party and are looking forward to the Osbourne lights. Anyone have any other tips of "different" things we should do?

If you have time check out the decorations at as many of the resorts you can. Epcot's live entertainment has something in each country based on the holidays and the Candlelight Processional is wonderful, even from a distance. You have come during the BEST time of year, just don't tell anyone...
WL is incredible at this time of year! We are there from 12/10-12/15.

Don't miss the Osborne Lights at MGM, make ADR's ahead, and don't miss the lifesize gingerbread house at Grand Floridian. The decorations throughout the park are magnificent!

We also had a great time traveling thru epcat and hearing all the different traditions by the people from those countries. Did a couple each day, there is a great schedule, and the light display at Epot is fun walking thru to world showcase.

Disney at Christmas is outstanding. You'll love it.

I will be there also it is the most beautiful time to go...Every resort and park has there own theme christmas tree. The music and Pointsettas everywhere. When I went for a long weekend in April it was sooooo plain compared to Christmas time. Mt favorite is looking down Main Street at nithgttime with all the christmas lights, wreaths etc. n Not to mentio nthe character have something oin whether it be a scarf or christmas hat. Not to mention Mickey and Minnie in there red and green outfits.

Have a blast take your time and just look around. Completely puts you into the christmas mood.

Some words of advice from someone who goes every year that week. Have your christmas shopping done before you go that way you wont worry about it while you are there and it comes up very quickly when you get home

Take time to visit all of the Countries in EPCOT and listen to their Santas tell about their Christmas traditions. Another fun time is catching the street players in England perform their version of "A Christmas Carol". They take people from the audience to play the various parts. Very, very funny. The Candlelight Processional is a wonderful Christmas show. Take a sleigh ride over at WL. The Country Bears Jamboree has a special Christmas show. Catch the tree lighting ceremony at EPCOT. Stop and wish a complete stranger a joyous holiday season!

I will also be going to Disney from Dec. 8-16th and am very excited to see all the christmas events and decorations. This is my first time to disney and we are so excited! I've already booked the Candelight, and mvmcp. We also plan to see the osborne lights and the christmas parades!

The Disney Parks always have the best Christmas events, and we have been to Disney every year!! Last year we also visited the Gaylord Palms "Ice" exhibit, and it was a blast, and a cheaper alternative to a day at the parks. Check it out if you have extra time, its pretty cool, and everything is made of ice!

You sound just like us!! We've both been to Disney over 20 times, but this is our first time spending Christmas in Disney and we couldn't be more thrilled! We'll be there from Dec 25-30, so unfortunately we'll just miss out on MVMCP.

I do have a question about Osborne Lights if someone can please help!

This is located by the Backlot Tour, correct? Is this something that requires a ticket? Or can we just head over whenever we want to walk around and look at the lights? Will we need to wait in line (assuming so)? How far in advance should get get there?

We have dinner reservations at 6, I'm guessing it will be best for us to look at the Osborne Lights after dinner?

Our favorite thing to do at that time of year is to grab a hot drink and sit by the fireplace in the WL lobby and just enjoy the sights, sounds and atmosphere of Christmas. It is a great way to spend the time at WDW!! It is very relaxing and invigorating. With all of the craziness and busy times of the Holidays, it is nice to just sit back and enjoy the little things for a few moments.

Have a great time and enjoy WDW at Christmastime! It is a wonderful time to visit!!

No, no ticket required for the lights and you may walk through them anytime in the evening you wish. Assuming you are not planning to see Fantismick on that same evening, I would have dinner first, and walk through the lights after the meal. The lights are turned on at dusk and stay on for some time after Fantismick is over. You will not have to wait in line for the lights, just join the crowd moving down the street.

Another thing to do is the sleigh ride at the wilderness lodge we are doing this after Mickeys Backyard BBQ. Have been to WDW 50 + times but these are 2 new things for us. Never get tired of the MAGIC. Also this is my first time with grandchildren ages 3 & 6.

Hey Keacc, thanks for those great suggestions. I've been on these boards for a couple of months now, and that's the very first time I've heard mentioned either the various Santa Clauses from different countries, or the English players "christmas Carol".
Unfortunately our trip won't be until Dec. 2007, so I hope that these (and other) Christmas highlights are still available because they sound fantastic.
We will be staying at the WL, so I definately plan on getting in some fireplace time as well as the Sleigh ride.

I have a question about christmas events as well...

Is the candelight processional THAT awesome?
I'm sure it's all in the eye of the beholder and all that, but I'm not sure that the DH and I are gonna dig it. It'll be the two of us, mid to late 20's, no kids. I made processional package reservations for christmas eve, but I also have a fantasmic dinner package and a MVMCP dinner package thing going.

Dump the processional package?

Oh my goodness does that sound nice! We'll have to give that a try when we go in 7 weeks!

I second the other's opinion about having your Christmas shopping done. This will be our third time at Christmas and the first year I learned my lesson the hard way - I was so stressed out when Christmas Day actually rolled around! Our 2nd time I had everything done by the time we got to Disney and I was able to relax and just enjoy the Christmas season!

I've already started for this Christmas and hope to be done by Thanksgiving!
