I just got the redcard today, excited to save money on disney gift cards, but they aren't eligible. How does everyone get theirs? Is there a trick to it? Or has it been changed? I did notice on the disney card it said gift card, not entertainment card. Does that make a difference?

That is the same thing here.

But I can use it for Disney gift cards if I'm buying other things and just putting in a Disney gift card as part of the stuff I'm buying.

They just won't let me buy a Disney Gift card by itself.

They are eligible. They are coded as entertainment cards and most of the employees have no clue.

The discount automatically comes off when you slide the card to pay.

"Gift Cards" refers to Target Gift Cards (that you spend at Target).

Everything else can be discounted.

We've bought Disney Gift Cards by itself all the time, so this might be a store issue!

I just picked up another 100.00 today ;)

It has always worked for me! I have saved quite a bit buying DGC at Target with my redcard.
:thumbsup2

It works. I think the giftcard they are referring to is the target giftcard. I've saved money on Disney, restaurant and iTunes giftcard.

I took the card to the register and watched her ring it up and she said it wasn't eligible. It was the only thing i was getting. Even talked to a manager at customer service and she had no clue. I just did the debit card one, and haven't gotten a 'real' card' yet, just the temp from customer service. Would that make a difference?

If you are only using the red card or red Debit card then they should have no say on how you are paying for your transaction. They do not manually enter the 5% discount, it comes off automatically once you slide the card so they have no control over it.
If you are trying to combine it with your RX discount then I can see where some people may give you trouble, there is one at our store who is a pain to deal with.

I have the debt card and I have purchased just the Disney GCs and gotten the discount. I just ordered some online last night.
Even if they say they aren't eligible, proceed with the transaction, the register takes off the 5% after you swipe your REdcard. Most of the cashiers I have gone to have been surprised, only a few of them knew beforehand.

Thanks for this! I never thought about ordering online, but with the free shipping with RedCard, it makes perfect sense - no worries about quantity in the store or dealing with cashiers! Thank you!:worship:

If you do order online purchase them through a rebate site for a little extra savings. I use Mr rebates for Target because they give 3% back.

Our payment for WDW is due early July. I'd need to buy all the cards we'd need within the first month of having the debit Redcard, and it'd be a few thousand worth. Can I buy all those, or will it not let me pay for that month on my first transaction? Thanks!

I purchase them at Target also with my RedCard and never had a problem.

Same here.
Just remember not to ask a Target employee any questions when doing it. They will more than likely give you a wrong answer.

There is a limit on the debit card, the only thing is no one seems to know how much it is. Even if you call the number on the back of the card they will not be able to tell you ( or at least they could not tell me). When I first started buying card, which was shortly after I got my card, I would buy $300 worth. I have had my card for almost a year now and yesterday bought $600 with not trouble. Some people have been able to buy thousands with no trouble, but others have reported not being able to purchase a few hundred.
If Target is near you, I would recommend trying to buy about $300. If that will work then next day go in and try $400, so on and so forth. Some people have had luck with manager manually putting in the 5% discount of the card gets declined.

Explain to the Target employee after you make the limit of the red card that you want the discount on your disney card.
