Can't Plan for Baby? Better Plan for Disney! -- PTR

I went back read all the updates that I had missed. Your CRT update was great! It looks like so much fun in your pictures, makes me want to go! I love that the girls loved the princesses although they are "just people wearing a costume". I'm an adult and I still love all the characters even though I know they are just people. ;)

I'm with your husband on the whole DDP thing, I just like it to be taken care of and not have to worry about figuring things out later. I do see your point about the not being flexible with the CS or TS thing. For us it works well because we are more of a TS family, although you are right many times you don't need an app or a dessert.

I love your Dalmatian themed activities. The kids all looked like they were having a great time... I love the baby's face in the group picture, he really does look excited!

For some reason, the bottom of your siggy is cut off for me, BUT I can tell what it is. CONGRATULATIONS! I am so very happy for you, and I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!

I just found your PTR...

Congratulations!!!! Love the pic in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle!!

So do we! We took it in February hoping that we would get to use it soon. I plan on exchanging the picure my parents have on their wall with this one to annouce the pregnancy. We will see how long it takes to notice the change!

Great point about being a TS family. I think we are a TS family, while my sister's family is more CS. That being said, I think TS at WDW would be easier because we wouldn't have to fight for tables and it would give the kids a break in the middle of the day. A place to just sit, eat, color while waiting for food, etc. We shall see though. I need to crunch some numbers!

For some reason, the bottom of your siggy is cut off for me, BUT I can tell what it is. CONGRATULATIONS! I am so very happy for you, and I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!

Hi there! I just came across your PTR and I'm very excited to start reading it! I wish you luck with starting a family!!!

Those nursing covers are really neat ~ I just used a blanket with my children years ago.

The carrier is very nice too. We brought our babies on all our cruises and trip and WDW vacations and used the carriers ~ very handy!

Try not to worry. I understand, believe me. I worried much of my pregnancy with dd. In the end though, all the worry only took away from my joyous pregnancy (which it mostly was) and also in the end we were still surprised by her birth defect when she was born... but we have coped. Point being, I worried and worried and even though things did not turn out "perfect" the blessing I received in my daughter was perfect. So things work out one way or another...worry or no worry.;)

Thanks, Ann. I have appreciated your support over the last couple of years. I know that sounds weird, since we are only DIS friends, but I am always thinking of you and your family. You are one of the most caring people here!

 You are too kind. You yourself are such a caring person that I take it as a compliment that you would say I am caring as well. :goodvibes

It doesn't sound weird, btw... I think of you and your dh often as well and I have had you in my prayers daily recently. I will continue to pray for you and your sweet little one!!! (is that an odd thing to read/hear? "your little one?")

Joining in, soo exciting that you're preggers.... congrats. Can't wait to read what your plans will be now.

Thanks so much!

Ahh! You brought tears to my eyes, Ann! Yes, it is an odd thing to hear! It is still so weird to think that I am pregnant!

I will have an update later today!

Joining!
Congratulations on being pregnant!!

Thanks!

Congratulations!!! :)

Thank you so much!

I am so happy for you that you are pregnant and growing your little one :cutie:. That is so wonderful!

You are going to have a great time with your new baby :)

Since I can't see the words on your tickers- how many weeks are you? When are you due?! We took DS when he was 13 months old, and this baby will also be 13 months on his/her first trip!

Plans Put on Hold

Pregnancy Update: I am still pregnant. It’s a miracle! I am a bit worried about the next couple of weeks because I haven’t made it past 6 weeks with my other three pregnancies.

I had another blood test today and my numbers are still looking good. An ultrasound is scheduled for next Friday! Super excited about that!

Hopefully we will be able to find out how many babies are in there. I am hoping for just one, and I am thinking it is just one, but I would be fine with two. Three babies would be crazy—and would definitely affect out WDW plans in 2013. Three kids at once = expensive! I am thinking we could handle two. I am not sure why, but that is my current thinking.

I am trying not to think about the possibility of three, though. One baby, just one baby… my numbers haven’t skyrocketed, so I think one is the magic number…

Infant Trip Update: I think I am going to put the plans for a trip with just me, Evan and baby on hold for now. I think I would rather spend that money and get some nice things for the baby—things that will last for the other kids. I plan to go minimalistic and only buy what we absolutely NEED, but the stuff we do buy, I want to be relatively “nice,” even if nice = used.

For example, a neighbor of mine is moving. She is getting rid of two dressers and two nightstands made of solid wood, not MDF. They are in a more traditional, generic style (which isn’t really my cup of tea), but since they are real wood they will be easy to sand and paint. Changing out the knobs won’t be too difficult and I can deal. They will probably last for years and I will have one nightstand and one dresser for each of the kid rooms in my house. Not having to spend tons of money of these items in the future means more money for… DVC?

I really want to start saving to purchase a DVC resale. I would like to purchase around 200-250 points so that we have enough for our trip next year. We could use the points from 2013 and borrow points from 2014 to do it. We could also purchase 150 points (if there are points available in 2012, bank those points for 2013, use 2013’s points and borrow 2014’s points. That would give us 450 points to spend.

I figure that whatever points we don’t use in the following years (if we end up purchasing 200-250 points) we can rent to friends or family members (or via a website that specializes in DVC point rentals).

Long story short, we will no longer be travelling to WDW with an infant. The next time we go will be in October 2013 and we will have an 11 month old! That sounds crazy to me, but it should be tons of fun!

So, this PTR is going to be geared toward planning for the baby and October 2013 trip! I should have plenty to write about, as I haven’t even started to figure out how much we will need for the October 2013 trip, where we want to stay, etc. This PTR will start from the very beginning! YAY!

P.S. Benjamin’s 1st birthday is this weekend! We are having a party on Saturday. It is going to be circus themed or Muppet themed. Either way, Evan and I are going to stay a bit later and make it a Disney Movie Night—with either Dumbo or The Muppets.

I think my sister will end up going with a Muppets theme. “Ben-Ben” loves the soundtrack. The other day their family went on a road trip, and about a half hour before they arrived at their destination, he started to get a little fussy. This evolved into full blown screaming. They really didn’t want to stop, so my sister had the genius idea to play The Muppets soundtrack. Within five seconds the kid was smiling!

I will be sure to take pictures of the festivities!

I am only 5 weeks and 4 days! First ultrasound is next week, then I am official passed from the fertility clinic to my "regular are provider"-- whoever that ends up being!
