***Can't keep us down...OFFICIAL MAY 2021 THREAD...come heck or high water we're going to WDW!!!***

Add me to the group! We are on our 5th reschedule of our March 2020 trip. We are vaccinated, so i am finally allowing myself to get excited!

We booked hotel and park pass reservations at 61 days out. We’re staying at All Star Movies from May 1-9. We didn’t know about the cheer crowd when we booked, but for $113/night we’re going to see how it goes.

We got all ADRs that we wanted except I forgot my daughter wanted Oga’s until the day after our window opened and so far no dice. Going to Sanaa, Hollywood Brown Derby, The Wave, Jungle Skipper Canteen, Beaches and Cream, and Ale and Compass breakfast.

Try to decide between Boathouse and Wine Bar George brunch. Any opinions?

Congrats on your shots, and I hope you enjoy your trip after so much grief! We are all in the same boat.

Speaking of boats, I’ve never been to Boathouse so can’t speak on that, but Wine Bar George is one of my favorite restaurants on property.

I’ve been pretty hesitant to get too excited about our planned May trip after our 2020 shutdown cancellation, but its starting to seem real! My mom officially turned in her retirement papers after 35 years of teaching (woohoo!), we’re both vaccinated, and I’ve had to decline two work assignments “because I’ll be at DISNEY then” !. I’ve started picking up a few things for our trip- new disposable masks in a variety of colors, a travel backpack (SUPER lightweight and inexpensive), and a couple shirts. Next up is dining reservations and eventually ordering a cake.

Farro, you have me at bcv and okw 5/14-5/18 (might have me mixed up with someone else) I'm at Yacht club☺

Farro-I’ve switched from Pop to ASMo, saving enough for my ADRs. Still at Saratoga for my last half.

Is anyone else obsessively watching to see what changes or openings come between now and their trip? I feel like a month and a half is a long time in our world now and things could open up more at Disney. I'm hoping more restaurants open and little shows that can pull people from ride lines.

The last couple of days really made me thankful for our TA. Turns out she was able to take my gf off the reservation and just cut down my stay at the Grand, without losing my TPV! The only thing is it doesn’t look like there’s availability there the night of my birthday, so I will have to change resorts that day. :( I was really looking to avoid that. But she was able to shift my reservation over a day so I still basically get the same amount of time. I just have to change my flight again, but no big deal since it’s a points booking.

So far my days look like:

5/27 - Arrive mid-morning (taking an early flight), I have MK reserved but will likely just pop in to cry at the castle and go take a nap when my room is ready lol. And then walk to Poly for my obligatory Lapu Lapu and meatballs.

5/28 - AK, lunch at my fave Satu’li and probably dinner at the resort and hop to MK.

5/29 - Resort day for rest/pool (might be fancy and get a cabana or a patio). Brunch at GF Cafe, dunno what else.

5/30 - Birthday!! While bags are moved I will spend the day in MK. I am still debating birthday dinner between Narcoosee’s, California Grill, or letting my inner 5 year old have CRT. I know the food will be considerably better at the actual signatures but...it’s the freakin castle (and tbh I thought the food was good when we ate there a couple years back!). Might hop to Epcot if I’m not too tired, if not then go straight to Yacht Club. Basically I’m trying to be out in parks all day long since I will be between rooms.

5/31 - Epcot, considering an early TS breakfast since I can’t do my usual Les Halles stop. I am kinda praying that characters will return to Trattoria al Forno by this trip because that is one breakfast gf & I had our heart set on. We love Eric & Ariel and I got to meet them randomly on my birthday back in 2016 at Epcot. If they aren’t then I will probably do Ale & Compass for convenience.

6/1 - Tentatively slated for Epcot but tbh this is when I’m probably going to start checking for BGs, if I get one I will go to the Studios instead and then hop to Epcot for food booths

6/2 - Resort day for pool and stuff, maybe Disney Springs in the evening

6/3 - HS, hop to Epcot for dinner

6/4 - HS before Tragical Express.

I am really not planning on many ADRs for the YC part of my stay, I just want to nosh at food booths and gods willing have my Crew’s Cup burger again if Yachtsman and CC are back open. I am also expecting park hours to be extended given the fact that it’s Memorial Day weekend, but even if they aren’t, I am still doing my midday resort nap/pool breaks. I am also very much willing and able to leave if I feel uncomfortable, even though I’m vaccinated. This trip is more celebrating being out of “quaranroutine” than about having to ride all teh rides, really my only “must dos” are Flight of Passage (my fave ride), Rise (it was not yet open on my last trip), and MMRR (ditto). Legitimately looking forward to being at the resorts more anyway, lol. I am also spoiled rotten and hoping the spas will open again by then because that would be a really nice birthday treat. But my plans are always very loose on solo trips, and if I can get past the horror of no FP+ system to game this time, it will be nice to go with the flow even more.

Booked ADRs this morning, YAY! With a group of 12, we were happy to get everything we wanted with slight time changes to our original plans and booking in groups of 6. We booked Sanaa, Boathouse, Yak & Yeti, Skippers Canteen, T-Rex, The Plaza Inn, 50s Prime Time, and Beaches and Cream. We also got two cabanas at SAB for our rest day. So excited! :earsgirl:

I got my first of the Pfizer vaccines yesterday. I let out a huge sigh of relief afterward because my friends and I agreed that if I wasn't able to get fully vaccinated before the trip then we would reschedule or cancel. The rest of my traveling party are essential workers and/or work in a hospital so they've already received the full series.

2nd dose is early April and I'm glad that if I feel anything I won't be traveling anytime soon.

So far we only have 2 ADRs booked - one of our group isn't huge on TS meals.

My dates changed again  so now I’m at GF 5/29 - 6/1 and YC 6/1 - 6/5. This way I can keep my nice views and not have to switch resorts on my birthday, plus I only need to take 4 days off work. I decided to make Memorial Day a pool/rest day to avoid crowds at the parks and will try to get a cabana to avoid the crowding. Flights are all fixed. It’s feeling real now and I’m excited! But now I have to redo my park passes for the third time!:rotfl2:

All these changes would drive me batty lol. But I'm so happy for you that you don't have to be switching resorts on your birthday!

In our news, Mouse Dining was able to get me GG at 545 on our Epcot day which makes me happy because DD will get at least one character meal/"interaction" for her bday week. And it also got me Mama Melrose at 610 on our HS day. I really want 50's and I'm holding out for it but I'm happy to have any ressie lol.

Also our DS is 18 months old. He just had his check up and he's turning into Andre the Giant, I swear. 36" and 30 lbs! I'm bringing a copy of his birth certificate just in case anyone tries telling me I need to spend a million bucks on a ticket for him. I'm sure that WON'T happen but you know if I don't bring a copy, it totally will, haha!

My oldest was very tall as well and we brought a copy of his birth certificate with us every time we went to an amusement park too in case someone tried to charge us the rate for an older child. We never needed it but it was good reassurance for us that we had it just in case.

Hi all! I’m checking in for May 8th - 12th! :mickeyjum

This trip was up in the air, but I was able to get my first vaccine so I’m moving forward with plans! Staying at Caribbean Beach for the first time, and I’m so excited to go to Topolinos breakfast!

Edit: Does anyone know if Oga’s is still enforcing the 45 minute rule since reopening? I tried to do a search about it but couldn’t find anything.

It's not exactly " post covid " yet but I was there last month and they were enforcing the 45 min time limit.

Yay! Touring plans just found me my Sanaa dinner. Have a few ADRs now-first day 50s Prime Time for lunch, first MK day a Skipper’s lunch, our Sanaa dinner on our first night at AKV, and a dinner for two for DH and I at Jaleo-we ate there in Vegas and it was such an amazing meal. Still trying for a Topolino breakfast-other than that, I think we are done with ADRs. Epcot will be flower and garden snacks, and then we will get a bunch of groceries for our villas.

Tuesday is ADR day for us! I’m looking for Boathouse, Via Napoli, Sci Fi, and Tony’s. Not anticipating any difficulties except for Sci Fi (party of 2). Mom picked Tonys, I was meh but I’ve seen some report of enjoying mid day cavalcades from the patio or outdoor area and that sounds nice!

Good Luck! When I made ours for May 6-14, 2021, Via Napoli was a tough get. It was the only one that gave me problems and I still didn't get it on pizza Friday--our tradition. I had to settle for Sunday, but hey--I got it! I won't even get into the glitches trying to book. :headache:

Waiting to get my first vaccine shot. Put my name on the list for when they have left over doses and got the call today. I will rest easier when people forget to social distance. Knowing me-I’ll be the guilty party! It’s funny that I’ve always had a large personal bubble but I can be pretty non observant in lines 😕
