I believe I remember that the last time we had breakfast at Tusker House, we just walked up without an ADR. I am wondering if we show up at the AK early if we might be successful with getting in without an ADR. I specifically am looking for two weeks from today. Any experience with this?

Thanks.

It's Disney and there's always pixie dust but I wouldn't count on it. Tusker House has gotten very popular and our last 2 visits, they were seating late and not accepting any walkups.

Sure, it could happen but I would not count on it either. We went during a rather slow period last year and TH was packed inside and out in the waiting area. They were turning away all walk ups that morning.

I was able to do it in Dec when we went. We went when the Park opened and had to wait around 40 minutes

That's how I believe we got in last time, too. I think we were there right at park opening...

Editing because I realized that we have never been to the Tusker House breakfast...we went to the one when it was held at Restaurantasauras...

I was not able to get ressies for my upcoming trip and plan on trying to do the same :) Good luck to you!

I think walk ups are always worth a try. I went at the end of January and most of the restaurants I went to had plenty of empty tables..even Le Cellier (even though ADRs were completely sold out).

Friends of ours wanted to join us at HDD at the last minute and we calling dining at least 3 times during the day only to be told it was completely hopeless. When we got to HDD to check in, we asked and they had no problems adding another 5 to our party. (Sadly we told them too late for them to make it over to join us). There were at least 4-5 empty tables at HDD that night.

IMHO:
The DDP has led to massive over planning of ADR's that result in empty tables in the TS restaurants. People make reservations and when they can't make it in time they don't call and cancel. Don't get me started on the DDP plan has done to the menus.

We often go with no ADR's in hand and always find a place to eat in the slow season. Now for a large group or peak season I would always go with ADR confirmed.

Wouldn't count on it..Our last 2 trips we had opening adrs there and not only were they NOT taking walk ups, ADRS were being seated about 45 mins LATE

On our last 2 trips we've gotten a night before reservation to TH after it was booked for months. I think some people realize they aren't getting up that early and cancel the night before.

Oh, my gosh! I just scored Tusker House on our departure morning just as I have been trying to FOREVER! I have been trying multiple times per day and we leave in a day and a half. I thought my chances were over! I had already tried a couple of hours ago and decided to give it another shot! BINGO!! The time is actually perfect for us, too (9:35 am)! :dance3:

First - keep trying. We have been able to get reservations by being persistent and checking the site again and again and again.

If not - I've also had luck walking up. Particularly during discount periods and free dining when no-shows abound.

Have a plan "B" for what you're going to eat, but otherwise, give it a shot!

Congratulations OP, I'm glad you were able to get your ADR!! We have an ADR for June 9th and we're very excited. We did Donald's Breakfast for the first time last May and we loved it so we gotta go back!!!

I can't wait!!! :thumbsup2

Congratulations!

Tip from someone who ate there in December: don't let them forget about you after you check in. If you wait for more than ten minutes, get up and bug them. I was there to check in before my ressie and ended up waiting almost thirty minutes, while others were taken back who had ressies after me. They actually admitted that they had forgotten me. They have a front check in where you get your buzzer and then they call for you to take you to a separate/second waiting area.

:cool1: Woohoo!!!!! Congrats. I always tell people to keep trying, even calling the night before you want your ressie. Many times people will cancel at the last minute.
