Can't believe we have res. for FW!!

First of all, I can't believe we have them because of the time of year - the first week of July!! I told myself I would never go at any time of year that the parks were more madhouse than magic, but I also told each kid we'd go when they turned 13. I saw we were going way to often a few years back and this was the solution to get out and see other places and get back to Disney on a day that would be special for each of the kids. My son turns 13 on July 3. I did promise!! He did suggest we go at a less crowded time of the year but I'd like him to be there on his actual birthday. We have already talked about how we'll handle the crazy crowds and everyone is looking forward to the 4th of July at the Magic Kingdom .

Secondly, I can't believe we have them because it's spur of the moment (we were going to take him the first week in December until I went cuckoo for cocoa puffs). I called last week and got July 1 to July 8 the first time out. I was very surprised considering the amount of posts here recently about nothing being available next year during certain months. I was sure the week of the 4th was out of the question (I called back later to make the deposit over the phone, I usually wait until we get the cute little letter in the mail but didn't believe it was for sure until I got that deposit in).

So, we're going!! we're crazy!! we're excited!! Fort Wilderness, hot weather, afternoon storms, extended hours, and the best 4th of July fireworks ever; here we come!! I hope to see you guys there!!

Congratulations! You were pretty fortunate to get that week. I too will be at the Fort that week with my DH, my DD(14) and one of her friends(14). It took me at least two weeks of trying on line before I landed that week and that was months ago. I was at WDW last year for the 4th and it is a crazy time but, your right it's the best Fireworks show ever. Last year we went to the MK on the 3rd because they had the same show on the 3rd as well as the 4th. We missed the crowds that way. On the 4th we went to the Poly had dinner at Ohana and watched the Fireworks on the Poly beach with a drink in hand from the Poly bar. What a view and perfect weather. We felt spoiled getting to see the Fireworks twice.

Whoo hoo !! I hope you have a great time !! I'm a hot weather wimp so I don't think I will be anywhere near there in the summer, lol !! We went a few years ago at Thanksgiving and it was 10 degrees above normal the whole week...low 80's. I was miserable !!

After reading your post I called and got a ressie too, but I wasn't lucky enough to get the 3rd or 4th. I got June 29-July 3. I am sure though I can add those days if I check back enough. My neighbors are going and asked us to come but I called a while back and nothing was available and I was like I doubt there will be either. Hopefully I can add a couple days more before too long. Wish me luck.

See, that makes me nervous!! I will probably have nightmares about showing up to check in and we didn't really have reservations!! Luckily they sent me an e-mail with the reservation confirmation or I probably would have those nightmares!

I had considered doing this (read about it during a google search) but his birthday is on the 3rd and has asked if we can go to EPCOT which is his favorite park. When I look up the schedules on disney.com it shows some parks are open until 11 and 12 and are EMH evening. When they did that last year, did the park stay open until 1 and 2 in the morning?

Ironically, the kid whose birthday we're celebrating would like to live in Alaska some day because he can't stand hot weather either!!

I hope you get them when you call back! I've had luck calling 5 days before the day I want and getting days that people are starting to cancel (when I've had to piece together a reservation). I'm just excited that we got them, something must have been aligned right somewhere because my husband's vacation requests are taken by seniority and he was able to get the 4th of July week, too. I'm excited and thankful!

So excited. Probably won't tell DD until time get's closer. I am there from June 29th - July 8th. Thanks for posting because I NEVER thought I would get that week. I may not tell neighbors either and surprise them. I'm so glad we got them.

I now have

March 19th-23rd
June 4th for a week. May cancel that though since we are going 4th of July
June 29th - July 8th
Day after Thanksgiving until that Monday
First weekend in December. Hopefully that's the Christmas Parade because that's why I booked it.
