Can't bear all the code talk, this is the RESORTS forum, let's talk about something

:goodvibes I think the themes of the resorts. I just love feeling like I am in a whole new place, whether it's a Polynesian paradise, the old south, or on a trip through the decades. Seriously, I love them all.

So far, I have stayed at CR; Poly; POFQ; POR; POP (wow, I think I got all the resorts that start with "p") and will be trying AKL on my upcoming trip. I have stayed off site once; and while it was nice, it was not the same.

I have not had a bad stay yet! My goal is to eventually try them all. ;)

I love being able to wake up and feel like I'm at Disney the moment I step out of bed. I love being able to take the busses and not worry about driving or parking. I love being so close to everything.

I'm a big geek and I love getting my Mickey Wake Up Call. I love towel animals. I love coming home to my room to find all my stuffed animals waiting for me in the window. :goodvibes

Great thread. I'm so excited to go back. No one understands because everyone I know IRL says "Well, didn't you just go?"

Yes. I just went in Dec. But I WANT TO GO BACK!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

mikesluss,

When I was there to eat at Chef Mickey's I thought it was a cool resort and said someday I will stay there, but never thought that some day would be in 10 weeks.

:goodvibes The CR is where my family always stayed when I was a kid. We probably went once a year from 1983 (when I was 7 years old) until I was about 17 years old (when I started going on my own)

It's a great resort. I used to love walking out by the water, riding the boats, having Chef Mickey's right there, being able to walk to MK, and having the monorail go right through your hotel is so neat. :)

If you have kids, the resort arcade is great. I know my brother and I spent a lot of time there when we'd get back to the hotel at night. Also, make sure you catch the electrical water paegent on the lagoon. I'm almost positive they still do it.

We can't wait! We bought AP's for the first time this year (it made sense for us with all the discounts available), so of course we have to get a few trips in, right?!

I've already been showing DH some pictures of all the decorations. We are definitely going to focus on the special holiday things - MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, Osborne Lights, all the resort decorations. I can't wait - if there's one thing I love as much as Disney, it would be Christmas!!

Tinkaroo,

We did MVMCP in Dec 2004 and it was GREAT! The resorts all look gorgeous, the MK...well, I think I got teary when I saw the decorations at MK.

I thought one of the coolest things was Christmas around the World at Epcot. We sat and listened to the different holiday stories from each country. It was really interesting. :)

One of my FAVORITE things to do, when staying onsite, is to just ride the monorail around. Usually, on the first day I get there, I just ride the monorail for fun.

Riding the monorail always makes me feel like I'm a kid again! And it's so clean and efficient and air-conditioned...I know I sound like a nut! And, I know it's not just me, my brother says it too, but the monorails always smell like fresh oranges! (Now you know I'm crazy. :rotfl2: )

I like to ride the monorail that goes through Epcot and get excited about going the next day.

EsmeraldaX,

Actually I'm going solo, but am still excited about staying at CR even if it's only for 4 nights. The ability to walk to MK will be very useful since it is Memorial Day weekend and will be very crowded. I'm sure the resort buses will be packed.

The smell of the Poly. For as long as I can remember it has always had that scent. My dh thinks I am nuts. But my cousin knows that same scent. We have been smelling it since 1975. It is a good scent too.

Also while walking to our longhouse for the first time, just listen, do you hear the Main Street Music, do you hear the howl from the Haunted Mansion, do you hear the Train whistle, yep you do....ahh....

I can't wait for our December trip to the Poly. I have ALWAYS wanted to stay there since the first time I went to WDW!!! Staying at the Poly is my ultimate Disney dream and I am so excited that I can afford to do it with my boys (DH included)on their first trip!!! I think it will be so wonderful for us to have easy access to the MK and just be in the Disney atmosphere!!! ::MickeyMo

I'm already planning for our 2006 trip which will hopefully be 10 days at the POLY!!!! :cheer2:

My familys first trip on site was awesome because I got to experience Disney through thier eyes. It truly is magical everyone is friendly and always smile and say hello (unlike here at home) Everyday when we came back to our room there was always something new the mousekeepers did. And the CBR was beautiful. It really felt like being in the Caribbean!! We CANT WAIT for our next trip to the Poly!!!! :cool1:  :rotfl2: :rotfl: :goodvibes

We had our honeymoon 10 years ago at WL and now we are going back for our #10 anniversary and bringing our 2 kids...It was magical 10 years ago and now we are going to spread that magic to our kids...we just can't wait...only 85 more days... :flower:

We've stayed off property twice. Then we really experienced WDW in all its glory...on property.
We've stayed Cont. wings, Cont. tower, BWV, Poly, OKW, The best thing IMO about staying on property is, the magic follows you back to your room! The hospitality, the disney themed food areas, the mickey soaps, it's really all the "little" things for me.

Hope you have a good memory, because your never going to want to stay off site again. I don't consider myself a snob, but I've become a hotel snob. ;)

When we went the last time it was crowded and we tried to get a good spot for spectro magic and we couldnt really get one. Well this wonderful family from minnesota pulled my 2 DS's and I forward with them and moved over so we could sit on the curb with them. Now that was some disney magic! :wizard: It was the first Spectro for them and their little eyes were practically falling out of their heads!! :earseek:

We are splitting our stay between the WL (which I am a little concerned about due to recent unhappy posts) and the BCV. At one point during our trip our entire family will be there! I am so excited! :cool1:

Thank you everyone. I was beginning to doubt the logic (and price!) of staying at the Poly next month. I was SERIOUSLY wondering if I had made the right decision for my family, but this thread helped me remember why we were splurging in the first place. Keep it going please! I love to read all of these positives especially since we've never been to DW!

I can remember go to each resort to visit (not stay) when each was opened. Can you remember when everything was open and you could just drive up and walk around. I was enthralled with each resorts' theming and could only hope for the day when I could afford to stay at one of them.
Now I have stayed at all of the resorts (just booked into CSR for April so I am counting that resort all ready).
Best of all staying at a resort gives me the freedom to go and visit any other resort during my stay as I am welcomed home each and everytime a security guard sees the resort parking pass on my car's dash. Unfortunately the GF does not provide a glass of lemonade when you arrive any longer, but the feelling of being home is always there.
I average 150 nights in hotels per year and yet at Disney I always feel "At Home" not at a hotel.

Don't be concerned about WL because of a few "unhappy posts". Search out the "happy posts" and compare. Just be aware of some of the "unhappy posts" absolutes, i.e. don't let them put you over the WCC, and resorts with lots of people in them are usually not very quiet. The rest are opinions and should be taken as such. We have loved the WL ever since our Honeymoon. Our opinion is that it is beautiful, spacious, original, and has a lot to offer. :smooth:

I think all the different exotic flowers around the Poly are what gives it that special smell. I kept noticing it everytime we would walk out of Fiji... I took some pictures of the flowers because they were so beautiful. :) Can't wait to smell them again in 49 days!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

Thanks, I've been too lazy to do the math. :jester:
Our counters are identical. Great minds think alike. pirate:

LOL :) I've got my Mousetracker running on my desktop so if you want the exact time it's:

Only 49d:18h:34m:14s until our 08:00AM departure for Disneyworld on 04/29/2005.

Hi Andrabell. Where are you staying? Christmas is my favorite time at Disney. If you get a chance be sure to go to MVMCP (snow on main street, hot chocolate, the holiday parade) and check out the great decorations at the resorts. We will be at the World in December too and are trying to decide where to stay. Of course we will probably change our minds 50 times between now and when we make our reservations. But..to me.. planning is 1/2 the fun. :wizard:

I first feel the magic when you approach the first WDW arch as you're driving towards your resort. I don't think I will ever stay off property. To me the hotel is an extension of the parks. It's all connected. It would be like going to Sandals and staying at a house nearby. You have to be IN the World!! I don't think I would stayy off even if it were free! Not kidding. It's just so intertwined for me that I never even consider anywhere else but a WDW hotel. You're just completely immersed in the magic 24/7-eating traveling, to the parks, swimming, showering, lol.

Onsite all the way for this girly!!

Elise
