Canon S2

My DW uses a smaller size lowepro bag. It holds the cam, extra batt's and several other accesories not necesarily related to photography.

I also can not stand having anything hanging/pulling on my neck. And definately not for 8-10 hours! Another option is to do the shoulder/sling bag. Put your head and one arm through the strap. It is more comfortable than around my neck.

another option is a photography vest. It will hold much more than cam equipment. Like maps, water bottles, sunscreen etc....

I just got it in the mail. I sat and read a little bit of the instructions. I don't want to overload my brain :rotfl2: --so I will read more tomorrow after work.
Question: Will this camera take my SD 2.0 GB memory card? or is that to high for the camera. (reason I ask -and not simply place the card in and see what happens is the card is with husband and other camera while he is in Philadelphia...)

Thx

Yes, your 2g should work fine (I've seen a post where someone had trouble w/ the 2g, but others said no problem at all). I think you will want to reformat the card in your new camera.

Good luck and enjoy your camera! The S2 looks like a great P&S!!!

I have this bag best buy or at least I think its that bag. :lol Its small, but its big enough for our S2, a little money, ID, credit card and some chapstick. I dont carry a purse when we go to the parks, and I find I can get enough in the little bag to get me by. Anything bigger and I would load it up and make it to heavy. The strap is long enough to carry it over your shoulder or across your chest.

I've got 3 different 2GB cards and haven't had a problem with any of them. I haven't had a problem with my 4GB card either. So far, so good!

I'm still learning things. I just learned you can create a voice comment on pictures you take! How cool is that! gosh. Not too sure how to use the digital zoom though (tripod only I suppose)............oh well. I have it down pat how to turn it on and turn it off and take a photo and look at it. I am impress with myself! :rotfl2:

Got back from WDW last week and had a 1 gig card pretty much filled, along with a smaller card. I dropped off my memory card last Tuesday at a local developing place. Have used him before with my old camera and never had problems. He said pictures would be done by this past Saturday. 600 pictures in doubles. Pictures weren't done on Saturday was told to come back next day. Weren't done. Was told they ran out of paper, come back tomorrow. After much back and forth, I was told today that the pictures came out reddish and that my resolution must be set wrong on my camera. I never changed resolution to anything. I assumed that resolution was automatically set like everything else. I don't know what to do. He says that he is using a software to correct all the coloring picture by picture and they won't be ready until at least Saturday. He said he is doing me a favor. When I wanted to come over and look at the pictures he said they are not there, they are at another location. Could I have done something to the resolution?? What is resolution anyways? All I know is that my pictures looked great in my camera display, not red at all. :guilty: Please , help me.

Resolution would not do anything to your pics' color, just the size and amount of detail. Changing the white balance could give your pics a funny color cast. Did you look at them on a computer? Do you have another card you can try taking test pics with?

BTW, if you had a problem with your color in your pics, you likely would have noticed in your camera's screen (depending on how red, I guess). Otherwise, you can fix bad colors yourself with software, and not pic by pic. Batch editing is a common feature of photo editing software. Get Picasa: http://picasa.google.com/
See: http://picasa.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=19601&query=batch&topic=0&type=f

I would call the guy and ask for your card back to see the pics yourself.

He didn't mention anything about them being grainy or anything, just reddish. I don't have another memory card, I gave both of them to him. I only want 4x6's. I did use the optical zoom alot, could that have anthing to do with it and why he said resolution? I never adjusted white balance or anything, unless it was by accident. Can I reset everyhing back to default without a memory card in my camera? If its white balance can I automatically set that? He kept saying that if I just give him until Saturday, I'd be very happy. I don't know what that means...if my color is off like he said, how will he know the correct colors??? And no..I was so eager to get them developed, I didn't look at them on the computer...just on the camera playback and they were great. :guilty:

Resolution really has nothing to do with color or even much to do with grain (especially in a 4x6 taken from a nice camera like your S2), and you should be able to see what settings your camera has right now. Yes, you might have changed your white balance and that could mess up your color, but I'm guessing you keep your camera on Auto. Do you change settings a lot? I'm not familiar with the S2, but I have a Powershot A620. I can change settings for different lighting, like Sun, Tungsten, Indoors, etc.

I'm thinking either you changed something without noticing or his print equipment is all messed up.

Canon does not normally have any issue with colour. That is why I chose Canon. I would want my card back to look at them on a computer. If they look good on the computer then the tech is out to lunch. Is he charging extra for this "favor" his is doing for you? Curious, as I am looking for a S2Si, it looks like a great camera.

I don't know...I took 90% of the photos on auto and only changed the settings to nightshot on the scene setting a couple of times. I never adjusted white balance. Can that even be done without hitting the set button and if it can, can I reset everything by following the default setting?

You can't change your white balance setting in Auto, that much I know. If it was on P (program) mode, which is semi-auto, or another scene mode, you could have. But if you accidentally changed it, it wouldn't apply in another mode. You can turn it on, flip through the modes, look and see if it says "AWB" (auto white balance) on the screen displays.

Personally, I think the guy is nutso. I would go get your card and take a look-see on a computer.

I called back and he said that the card is at his other location and that if I want them reddish, he could have them to me today, but if I give him a few more days i would be "very happy". I don't want to buy bad pictures but I just don't understand how I could "accidentally" change any setting 600 times. On my camera, it looks like the resolution is set at 640x480 30 fps. is this correct?

my suggestion is pick up the card from him, post one of the so-called reddish pictures here. There is a possibility that he's overloaded with work and use that as an excuse to delay the workflow.
