Canon Rebel Owners....

Thanks Karen, that helps a lot!

Those are all great pics. I notice that there is very little curvature in the straight lines of the lighthouse, even less than in my Sigma 18-125. Did you tweak that in Photoshop, or is that the natural amount of curvature?

Hey WillCAD- thanks so much for the compliment. No, I didn't tweak it in photoshop. None of those pics were adjusted at all- they came straight from the camera. I don't tend to mess with pics in photoshop unless I'm going to get it printed, the exposure is really off or there's something in the pic I want to clone out because it's annoying me. I barely have time to keep up with posting on my smugmug page as it is!! :rotfl:

And as versed as I am in photoshop, I wouldn't know how to get rid of the curvature if I had to! :rotfl2:

I highly recommend the lens :thumbsup2

WOW!!!! Seems like a lot of people have the 50mm lens. At other forums i visit, it seems like a very popular choice. I might think about getting one. I bought my first DSLR a couple of months ago.... the T1i. I only have the the 18-55mm that came with it though.

Look around for f1.8 lenses (or cameras) and you'll know why it's popular. :) Low-light and shallow DoF for about $50-$90.

However, it's also extremely challenging to shoot at F1.8, so make sure you practice a lot.

Warning; it may also cause an addiction to (expensive) primes. Use with caution. :thumbsup2

So far for my Xti I have:

ProMaster 17-55mm f/2.8
Canon 70-300mm f/3.5 (or 4? i'm drawing a blank right now)
Canon 50mm f/1.8

I definitely enjoy all of them. When just wandering around the 17-55 is usually on. I always have all 3 with me when I'm on vacation in my bag and I'm getting pretty talented in switching them quickly.

I have the Canon XSi (450D) and use the kit lens (18-55IS), 55-250Is and the "nifty fifty" 50mm 1.8
