Every time I have spoken to Disney on the phone, they told me I cannot use my AAA discount AND a dining package at the same time. But I see people on here saying they are doing just that... Is Disney lying to me? :confused3 We're staying at the BWI 7/19-7/26 btw.

Call back and find another agent to speak to-yes, you can book a package with dining.

Let me add, you need to speak to a AAA agnt directly to book a package with dining in it to get a discount- WDW only does room only with AAA, so if you call WDW-they will tell you that you can not book AAA with dining through them.

Like Candianguy said, there is no discount during free dining-but you arent going to be there then.

HOLD UP....

You cannot get the AAA room discount AND get free dining.

You cannot have more than one discount. That's a fact.

An AAA travel agent can book you a free dining package that will be at same rates as you would pay thru Disney direct -- but you would get your AAA perks (the Diamond Parking pass etc)

Bottom line :

1- you can have the AAA discount & pay for dining

or

2- you can have free dining but pay full rate for your room

Further... The Disney Dining Plan (paid or free) is only available in a MYW package including at least one day base tickets. There is no such thing as calling Disney and booking an AAA discounted room and getting free dining added to it. Ain't gonna happen.

You CAN call your AAA agent and *they* can book you an AAA discounted package with paid dining .. or a full rate package with free dining.

Clear as mud?

You were correctly informed on the phone... since Disney can ONLY book AAA room only reservations. Disney cannot book AAA packages thru the Disney call center. The Dining Plan is ONLY available in a package and you MUST book with AAA travel to book ANY AAA Disney package.

Right, I know I will be paying for dining, since I'm not going during a "Free DDP" time. But I was told I can't even have the DDP if I use a AAA discount, even if I'm paying for it. Why are they lying to me?!

No Disney is not lying to you, and calling back will not help fix the problem. However, you can book the DDP with an AAA discount.

You need to call an AAA office directly and speak to a travel agent there. Through an AAA agent at an AAA office, you can book a package which will include hotel, park tickets, and DDP. You can have an AAA discount applied to the room portion of the package, generally from 10-20% off the room part only, depending on the resort class and season you're going. You want to verify with the agent that you're getting the AAA discount rate, though, because if the AAA rate is sold out for your resort on the dates you're going, you won't necessarily get that AAA rate.

However, if you call Disney directly, you will only be able to book a room only (that means no tickets and no DDP) with the AAA discount.

Do note, however, that you cannot double up the discounts. So, if free dining is being offered, you could not get that plus the AAA rate at the same time. Still, if there are no other discounts available, AAA is a good deal. We saved over $300 last year off 8 nights at the Poly (with tickets and DDP) and this year, we're saving closer to $400 for the roughly the same stuff, all in July when there are not other discounts available.

What Tam1067 said. I wrote it in an edit to my other post but I wasn't fast enough. :)

Ohhh I understand now. But I have already booked the entire vacation - Hotel, tickets, DDP, ADRs, the whole shabang. Will I have to cancel all that and start over if I call an AAA rep?

It MAY be that the AAA rep can 'take over' the reservation. This is a fairly common thing in the industry..

BUT -- it may be they can't do that .. and in which case -- yes, they'd have to start all over..,. which is really no big deal. BUT -- I'm pretty sure they could salvage your ADRs.

If this is your Boardwalk in July trip -- there probably aren't any AAA discounted rooms left at this point anyway -- hard to say -- but your first line of attack is to talk to an AAA travel agent -- ideally one who knows a little something about Disney.

Also, if you purchase a AAA package, you will not be able to get any code discounts that may be released closer to your travel dates.

I'm going to stick with my room only AAA discount, and pay for my own dining. If codes do come out, I can convert to the room only rate.
