Cannot request dining rotation anymore?

I heard from a social media website that someone called DCL yesterday and found out that we can no longer request specific dining rotations, nor even request what the scheduled rotation options are.

Personally, I like planning which night I'm missing for Palo/Remy or if you favor another dining room more than another. I guess we can always adjust once we board, right?

What do you guys think? Have you heard anything about this?

I think that person either got a rep that either misunderstood the question/request or just didn't know what she was talking about.

There was a report on here a while back of someone being told the same thing about requesting a rotation. The recommendation was to call back and talk to someone else. The poster did and was able to submit her (his?) request.

I could see them doing that. (we never requested a rotation in our 4 trips and were always successful getting either Palo changed or our rotation changed when it conflicted with what we wanted - I think that happened twice) Keeping track of requests and honoring them seems like a major hassle.

I would not be surprised if either it's true or will be soon. It would make far less work for the crew members who schedule everyone's dining. If it is true, I would not even be surprised if they would stop allowing rotation changes once aboard, to simplify the entire process. It is probably only because of message boards that people even realized it was doable. Nothing lasts forever, but like most, I would not be pleased and would view it as another "Let's cut this because we can" move by DCL.

Edited to add: Maybe someday they'll make both rotation requests AND server requests an exclusively concierge perk, to add to its value. Wanna bet? ;)

I've only requested once out of our 4 cruises. It was our engagement cruise (had an idea but wasn't 100% sure when the then BF was asking me to do certain things haha) and our only request was that we did not spend formal or semi-formal in Animator's Palate. Beyond that we always book Palo or Remy on a rotation we would end up eating at more than once.

I've also never understood the need to request rotations but we don't do Palo or Remy because we enjoy our family dinner time. I can imagine it would be a huge task trying to accommodate all of the rotation requests. It probably became so well known that it grew out of control and although it was never guaranteed, people expected it and it became a huge dissatisfier. When a perk ends up disappointing people who then get angry it's time for that perk to go away IMO.

There was a survey some time ago when they asked if people would be willing to pay more for requesting a specific dining rotation. I would not be surprised if they would start a programm like that...

Doing our first cruise next year. How many restaurants do you rotate through during a 7 day cruise?

I made the request for our 7 night cruise because with small children enchanted garden or royal court three times vs three times in animators palette that holds their attention is much perferable. I asked my TA to put in the request for our next cruise and have not heard anything about it.

Our rotation worked like this on our 7 day cruise on Fantasy

EG, RC, AP, EG, RC, RC, AP

I am not sure which if there are others but thats what is was for us.

I think that is what we ended up with when we did the Fantasy a few years ago. Even though we got Animator's 3 times, we got the same 2 shows everybody else did. It seems like the other night we were there was pirate night and just got a parade or whatever it was. I don't recall what was on the screens.

If nothing else the decor is more kid friendly and the room doesn’t seem as crowded as the others (maybe just where we sat) but thanks for the info

On Pirate night they play different Pirate clips. Some are from Jake and the Neverland Pirates, some are from Pirates of the Caribbean, and some from Peter Pan. That's what I remember when we had AP on pirate night. It was mostly making of art and stuff.

We got the same information back from our TA recently as well. According to the cast member she spoke to they are still taking requests, just not for specific dining rotations. ie you can request that you want a certain restaurant 3 times (on the 7 day cruises), or if you want to be in a specific restaurant on formal night, etc. It sounds like they are doing that so that they can change up the dining rotations as needed. We wanted a specific rotation because we wanted to avoid being in PC three times (doing the Wonder in Alaska next June), so I ended up asking if we could request Tritons be our 3-time restaurant and they put that request in no problem.

This makes sense. I know last year there were some Fantasy cruises where they switched the night Pirate Night was on, which would change what the rotations were, and they had to shift around people's BBB/Pirates League appointments. Palo/Remy reservations had to be shifted. I can imagine there were some people that didn't like the rotations they had after the change even if they requested that specific rotation. If they knew what you wanted out of a specific rotation, then they could grant that request even if they needed to change the rotations around to accommodate changes in the ships' schedules.

i don't understand what the difference is. if i want a specific rotation, lets say eraerae, they say no but if i want enchanted garden 3 times they say yes. is it not really the same request? the only way you could do enchanted garden 3 times is to get eraerae. am i missing something? lol, i don't get it. seems they are making this hard for themselves.
