cannot downgrade from premier to regular chase disney visa credit card?

i'll hold off until i see the outcome of this "request".
it i'm denied i will be cancelling.
even if they offer me something like a statement credit for the amount of the annual fee.
i like to use the card but when you can't even give me a reason as to why i should have to continue paying $49 per year it seems a bit shady.

i'll go back to using my local bank's credit card.
at least i can pay the bill in person. with the disney visa i send out my check 10 days prior to the bill being due and sometimes they confirm payment in 3 days and sometimes its longer.
and twice i freaked out because it was the day that it was due and they said they still had not received my payment.
both times i got confirmation the next day and i was not charge any late fee thank god or it would have been cancelled already.
meanwhile my sister has a regular disney visa and sends out the payment 5 days in advance and has never had an issue.
i'm paying an annual fee i shouldn't have to be on edge every month wondering if they'll receive my payment.

You can pay by phone. No stamps involved and a confirmation number is given immediately.

Who mails checks anymore?

well clearly i do.

i didn't feel the need to explain the reason behind it but everyone seems so interested as to why i wouldn't pay online or by phone so i'll tell you.

i don't have a checking account.
i give my sister the cash and she writes a check for me.

also wanted to give an update.
i got another response which still did not give me a reason for why my card is ineligible but they too said they would "escalate my request" and they said i'd hear something within 7-10 business days vs the 10-14 business day response i got on the phone.

we'll see what happens.

its definitely really strange that you cant downgrade your premier status. You should get your answer though, i had an issue with an reward, at first, they sent me a list of the reasons why, after waiting for the 7-10 day response, they actually give me a reason, not numerous. Perhaps you can ask for a fee wavier if you use the card enough or ask them for a promo. Disney Visa does kinda suck in terms of rewards, there are better ones out there! good luck!

I have a Citi 2% back card. No fee. Maybe you should look into that one.

This is interesting. I have debated downgrading as I just don't use it enough for the annual fee.

I don't know just throwing this out there is perhaps the reason unable to downgrade because of a premier image on the card vs one of the basic options. You'd think if this was the reason they would be able to answer you-but who knows these days.

Those that successfully downgraded did you have a premier image on your card?

I write checks for most of my bills still. The only things I pay for online are my CCs and once in a while, my cable bill. I do have autopay on a few things.

i shouldn't have but i ended up applying for the regular card.
at least i get $50 for my hassle (after my first purchase i get a $50 statement credit).
if i had just been able to downgrade i would not have gotten a statement credit.
i also still get the satisfaction of cancelling the premier card which i will do as soon as i have the new card in the mail.
i'm weak i know lol.

That's exactly what I would have done. Might as well get what you can out of the deal.

true, but it might not be worth that hard pull. It might hurt your chances on other cards... of course, if you dont need other cards, then it might not be that important...

luckily i don't have much financial responsibility which means i can fairly easily live within my means so one card is fine for me.

when i first signed up i asked if i could downgrade int he future.
i was told after 1 year i could.
well i've had it for almost 3 years.
i decided to downgrade because i don't use the card enough at the 2% rewards locations to justify spending $49 each year for the fee.

i just called and after a few minutes on hold was told that for some reason it was not an option to downgrade.
i could not even get an explanation as to why.
i was told i'd get a letter in the mail explaining why but not even the customer service rep could see that "secure info".

has this happened to anyone else?
I was able to downgrade. I did it online.

OP here again.
ugh even more annoyed!

so last monday i received notic in the mail again saying i was not eligible to downgrade so i applied for the regular disney rewards visa and was approved and was waiting to receive the card in the mail prior to cancelling the premier card.

today i received 3 pieces of mail...
-one had the new card i applied for in it
-one had the user guidelines info in it
-one was a new chipped card with my premier CC number on it

only thing is it just says "disney" it does not say PREMIER under it!
this leads me to believe they did downgrade it!

of course i will call to confirm this but omg this is becoming ridiculous!

so now i wonder what i should do.
-do i keep both cards if the premier has been downgraded?
-do i still cancel that one?
-do i cancel the new card?

i will definitely let them know i am unhappy with the way they jerked me around.

ok here is the conclusion.
i called.
the premier was downgraded.
i filled her in on all the frustration i've been though and not even getting a reason for why it could not be downgraded.
this customer service rep was able to tell me the reason.
the reason was because "i had to have the card for at least 12 months" to which i said but i have had it since 2013.
she said yes indeed you have.
she could not understand why no one else could see that the reason was incorrect and that they should have fixed it to begin with.

so i cancelled the new card because she told me she could do it in such a way that would make it look as though i never applied for it to begin with so it would have no effect on my credit.

in the end i'm happy it has been fixed but i'm still annoyed with the hassle i went through.
