To do EMH or not.....I have my two itineraries and everytime I settle on one plan....I read about someone who has had great success in doing it the opposite way...and then I go

HELP! ****shhhh....please don't tell any sort of medical personnel, but I am spending most of my time on these boards and/or reading my Unofficial Guide....I only eat and or pay attention to family members if it appears that they are getting ready to call the authorities on me.......Will I ever be normal again???:teeth: ::MinnieMo :earsgirl:

your future normalcy may depend ;) ! we went in the value season ( Jan) and did emh to Ak and MGM, very few crowds, no decernable difference to other days not emh imo...however only ttbb and kil safari were open for emh so don't know I'd do it again unless the limited attractions had something to do with the marathon which was that day also (they changed the emh for Ak and MK that weekend so we did AK emh "unintentionally" since Mk wasn't going to be open when we got to the bus stop)

In short, no. Because, after you get back from your trip, you will feel like something is missing because you don't have any more planning to do. So, what do you do? You decide to start planning another trip. And so, the cycle begins. How do I know? Because I'm trapped in the cycle myself! I was depressed after returning home from my January trip until my DH came up with a way for us to go back in October. I immediately put the Unofficial Guide back on the table by my chair, and started reading these boards for hints and tips again. And, I'm sure when we get home in October, I will have to figure out when we can go back, and start planning for that one.

I really do have a life outside of planning for Disney trips, I promise! It's just that planning is so much fun!::MickeyMo

Hello, My name is Anne and I am a disney-aholic.

With that out of the way....we found success doing emh, staying at that park until lunch (or a bit earlier) and then switching. Did it really matter? I can only say that things went pretty well and overall we did the VAST majority of big attractions between opening and 11:00. I personally do not tolerate lines well so this worked best for us.

Anne:crazy:

We enjoyed EMH very much; not so much for the rides that were open, but because it was just so nice to get into the parks before the crowds and have a chance to walk around and really see everything without the throngs of people blocking our view. Main Street was especially nice during EMH. At AK we felt as if we were the only people there. At EPCOT we got to really enjoy the "characters on holiday" without the huge lines that we'd see later in the day. The only park we didn't visit for EMH was MGM but we plan to do that this time, especially for Rock n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror.

If you are up to it, go for it!:hyper:

;) This was such a help... I am also a crazy planner. Do you all have a 3 ring binder with a computer generated table that list EMH, PS, park hours, fireworks and parade times??? (Just want to know where in the absolutely crazy continuum I fit in :hyper: )

Anyway, thanks so much for the emh info. I have 3 kids, 2, 6 and 8. For my husband and I to wake them up on vacation, when we could have a few minutes to actually talk to one another, to get to AK for the 7 emh was starting to make me wonder if it would be worth it. But hell, I can talk to him at home!!

I don't understand....you say it like it's not normal behavior. I mean, I spend most of my time on these boards and reading the Unofficial Guide. :p

I think alot depends on how many times you've been to WDW. Especially if it's your first trip. I absolutely believe in planning to get the most out of your park days, and EMH is a good option. If you've been many times, like me, then I think heavy park planning isn't necessary, as there's not the urgency to see and do everything. One word of caution, though, take time to really enjoy your surroundings. Overplanning can cause stress, especially if things don't turn out as expected. Have a basic itinerary, allow room for spontaneous changes, and most of all, have a great time!:D

Thanks everyone! I feel better now, I'm going to stick with my EMH plan except for AK day and try to re-lax...I'll keep in mind that I'll come back so I won't feel panicky about seeing everything! I have to agree that the planning is SO much a part of the fun for me! Maybe we should all go in on a Disney travel agency - since we love it so! We can name it The Mickey Mouse Club......Y? because we LIKE it!!!::MinnieMo

ehh, no I don't , what 's the MATTER with you!

( just kidding, *I *keep in on my *computer* :o )

Between my cousin and I (our families are traveling together in May) we have checked out every book on Disney between our two libraries, have ordered & purchased countless books and planners and spend 90% of my time on this board! (the other 10% consists of feeding children & picking up the house last minute so it seems I've done something during the day! :smooth: )

As to the one post about coming back and being depressed and having to plan another trip...well, this was supposed to be a once in a life time trip (and then again maybe in 5 years or so) but my cousin and I have already started talking about taking the kids again (without the hubby's if necessary) around Nov/Dec again if a good package comes out!!

How sick is that....we have 80 some days before we even leave, haven't totally finished our itinerary for this trip and are already talking about our next!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this illness...well, time to pick up the house I'll have to tear myself away from the computer! :hyper:

Tinkie, you are funny! I remember in your early planning for this trip you said that you weren't going to do much planning. What happened??? :teeth: Jake and I had a great time--got home last night. I'm sure that you and your son will have a blast no matter what you end up doing.

Uh, yeah! Mine also has menus of all the restaurants that I want to try this trip. Also printouts of the quotes for each Disney hotel that I'm considering.

Is this a sign of insanity? If so, I think I'm certifiable. :yo-yo: Let's just consider it very, VERY organized. HAHA

Menus!! Why did 't I think of that! I will add menus right away! :hyper:

And I need to fix my signature!!!

It's a really, really bad habit that is hard to break! I have been "board free" for about 8 months, but had a major relapse once I started planning this year's trip a few weeks ago. You would think it would get old after all these years, but agree that the planning is so much fun!!

I am doing the same things!! First trip since I was a kid, now Im taking my son in 18 days (but whos counting???) and I want to get the most out of it. I have the guides, the printed out itinerary, etc. Every day I check to make sure I have all my tickets in order, confirmation numbers etc. I have a problem!!!! I feel like Clark Griswald in NAitonal Lampoons vacation planning everything before!!!

18 days to Port ORleans Riverside!!!

hope walty world is open when you get there!
