Hi All-
Well I've been canning like crazy lately! Last week I made garlic dill pickles. Today I've done 10 jars of Apricot-Fig Jam, 5 jars of Strawberry-Fig Jam and 5 jars of Raspberry-Fig Jam (yes, I have access to a very abundant fig tree
) Tonight I'm canning apple pie filling and tomorrow is apple butter! ( we like to give these as gifts at Christmas time, with homemade bread) I found a salsa recipe for the Dis poster looking for it. I haven't tried it yet, but here it is:
Homemade Picante Sauce
1 gallon tomatoes
1 large onion, chopped
6 jalapeno or chili peppers, chopped
2-3 sweet bell peppers, chopped
2-3 tablespoons chili powder
2-3 tablespoons curry powder
1 tablespoon ground peppercorns
1 cup vinegar
1 teaspoon ginger
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar (optional)
Combine all ingredients together in a large pot. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until fairly thick, stirring often to keep from sticking. Pour into sterilized pint jars and seal. Precess in hot water bath for 10 minutes. Makes 5 pints.
