I decided the best way to deal with the arthritic pain in my knee was to purchase a cane & use that at the parks for my upcoming trip. Silly question - my right knee hurts, but which side do I use for the cane?? Either way feels right.

Thanks!

ETA: I've been to the doctor & had a cortisone shot also.

If it is your right side that hurts, then you carry the cane on the left. I was always told that I did it wrong, but it was what felt right to me. If you hold it like "House", you are holding it wrong.

The cane should always be on the side with the good leg.

When you move the good leg forward you are braced by both the bad leg and the cane. When you are moving the bad leg and the cane forward your stability is provided by the good leg.
