candy for staff

I have also seen them get THRILLED for trashy magazines.. such as People, US, vogue, marie claire.. etc..
I save lots of mine and go through them on board and the "recycle" them for others to enjoy.
Candy is nice too...and just FUN !!

That's actually a very good point for the female CM's Tricia's mom!
If your flying and get a news paper beforehand to keep you occupied, or just driving that day, a news paper is really cool!
As much as you guy's feel like your in a vacation "bubble" whilst away, it's like that "bubble" when your working on there for months on end!
You kinda forget about the world outside the ship (not your family), and there is no Tivo for crew on the Magic Class nor time to watch CNN really!, so reading up on what is going on outside of the Disney Magic/Wonder/Dream was cool when another CM went ashore and brought back a paper!

LOL When I read trashy magazines I thought all of a sudden that you meant 'Playboy' type... LOL... glad you followed it with People and a few other examples. :rotfl2:

That's a great idea. I'm more then happy to take things on board that they can use.

Another thread a while back also said that salty snacks are great as they have to purchase them onboard most of the time and they are pricey.

Non-tipped positions are supposed to give any cash tips to their supervisor to be pooled. I have heard a couple of different ways how they are dispersed, but it isn't likely that the cash given to a CM that doesn't have a tipped position will remain with them as intended. It may be put in a drawing at a CM gathering and go to someone that was less than helpful to you in some way. (I haven't run into that onboard, but have read the DIS enough to see that others have.)

When we had something signed, I included different kinds of candy in baggies. Some non-chocolate, plenty of chocolate, and I did separate the ones with nuts into another double bagged set, in case of allergies.

As for the tipped positions, we have had zero complaints, so they have been compensated generously!

My DD7 attached her own personal pins onto the candy bags she gave out. We had made the candy bags for her to give to people she wanted to "tip". She decided on her own that she also wanted to give one of her pins to them too. She didn't feel that anyone in the kids clubs were deserving so she gave one each to our server, asst server, and room host.

Brit's love:

A mass contingent used to head off to a cafe on GC to eat british bacon, and bean's on toast!

Don't know if they can heat them up on the ship's, I would guess a couple of drink's in the crew bar to the mess chef could work out!? lol!

Ok, I checked the Brit section today and we do have Heinz beans! I am almost tempted to get a can to see what makes them different from Bush's, our usual baked beans. Of course we eat them with hamburgers, not with toast!

I just thought of another non-candy gift - Starbucks VIA. If some of the crew are coffee lovers, they would probably really appreciate an alternative to the Nescafe swill.

Both are good!
The bean's are in a tomato sauce, they are nice as is the british bacon on GC! They are expensive but try bean's on toast! Yummy snack!

Is there a Starbuck's at Merrit island?
Even a Sear's voucher towards underwear etc.

OMG, my family does that and I thought we were weird. We top the toast with baked beans, then bacon and then a slice of cheese. We broil it at that point.

Never seen or tried that recipe before, but the bean's on toast in GC were great!
Also cheese on toast!

Heinz Beans are a great gift. We take a can along each time. Another treat for the British CMs is Marmite or if you can find it Vegemite for the Aussies.
Our Grandson has hand made gifts for a specific CM that he just loves. We always make a point to seek out the CMs who we have come to know over the years and like many on these boards take great delight in seeing these hardworking people move up in their careers. Yes, Money is always nice but somehow a little touch of something that reminds them of home is really appreciated. And as a PP said it leaves some space in the cases for more goodies to bring home. We head out tomorrow on the Dream and yes the beans are packed.:woohoo:

We didn't give candy but I nearly got tackled by our assistant server when I presented a bag of Oreo's. :rotfl2: We gave 2 packages of Oreo's to the kids club and 1 package to our dinner servers. I think I may need to switch that next time.
