candy canes??

http://

That's how big this baby is :rotfl:

Anybody ever finish a whole thing in one sitting?

So do these candy canes taste different than other candy canes you buy in the store? Why are they so special? Not big on candy canes but maybe i need to get one of these!

I was going to get up early and try for one this morning. But we have the Holiday Tour booked at noon, and I figured we might not be able to make our return time. Everything I've read says they won't hold them, so we didn't bother. I'm a little bummed, as this might be the only day the worked for trying. Ah well! Someone come back and tell me yummy they are!!

Yesterday they said our pick up is anytime between 12-4pm. So there's a window.

I picked mine up about 3 30pm and there was a whole bunch that hadn't been picked up yet. I bet they hold them for awhile and then release them for sale.

I'm curious too. We're not huge candy canes fans so I hate to spend so much and not have anyone like it. How does the taste compare to "regular" candy canes?

With tax it comes to alittle over $14 and honestly I didn't think it was worth it. I had some today and it was good but for the price I think I would rather get a box of Sees candies. It tasted like a normal candy cane.

Today I stopped by at about 3:50 to ask about the line for unclaimed candy canes at Califonia Advenute. The CM in charge was completely unaware of the 4pm deadline. There were quite a few unclaimed, but he insisted they would wait for them to be picked up and wanted to know where I got my information from. *sigh* I said it was on every forum and information site that posted about the candy canes, but he still wouldn't release them. So late comers today got theirs and I have no idea what happened to any unclaimed ones.

Mmmmm See's Candies. Bought some for the first time on our most recent trip. Damn they were some fine chocolates. Not like anything I have had before. I can't see any candy cane, even a cool DL one, being as good investment in sugar as some See's.

The CMs at CA need to speak to the CMs at Disneyland ;)

We got our wristbands on 11/28 in Disneyland. We were in the first group (first batch of the season - woo hoo :thumbsup2) and were told we could return to pick them up any time between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm.

The CM specifically said that 4:00 was the magic hour ;) . If we did not pick them up by 4, they would be put up for purchase to anyone that wanted them. So the information you had was correct.

I would not count on this. Last year they were very clear that it was one wristband per person in line and they put the wristband on your wrist.

Again, I still recommend against running. A better plan would be to get to the park pre-opening and get in line as soon as you get into the park. I've never ran and I've still managed to get a wristband when I've gone (both in DCA and DL).

People were running last Friday (some to the Candy Store, others I'm assuming to line up for Anna and Elsa). When we got in line, it was single file and you could not join your family if someone in your group got there first (it was first come, first serve by individual person).

My DH and DS were a bit faster than us so they were about 30 people ahead of us in line. My DD and I just joined the line at the end. We all still managed to get a wrist band for the first batch. I found it to be a very fair way of distributing the wristbands and had no problem not being allowed to join DH in line (as I wouldn't want 20 people coming up and joining at the last minute either).

There was no handing out of wrist bands. The CMs put them on each person and then cut them off when you arrived to pick up your candy cane.

We tried to get one at CA. It was EE and we thought they would not pass out the bands until general entry. Wrong. All bands were gone and we were there when they opened. Tried to pick up candy canes that were unclaimed. They would not release them wrong again. We've had the candy canes before and they were good but totally not worth the hassle. Don't bother with the ones that are shipped from somewhere else. Those were as hard as a rock!
Go for the See's candy instead.

We watched the canes being made in DL on Friday November 28th. Lisa, the candy maker out front, told us that the morning was a bit crazy and they had one lady 'bleed for her cane". We were glad we didn't get up early to line up for that! She also said many people thought they were lining up for Frozen and she hoped they would get signs out soon! Saturday morning was the CA candy cane day, so we opted for that. Got to the gate about 7:15, walked right in at 7:30 and got in a small orderly line. Wristbands were put on us and we went about our morning. Went back just as they were finishing making the first batch, watched them be bagged up, got in another line and got our three after our wristbands were cut off.

My darling husband tried again this morning. He was inside Disneyland in five minutes of park opening, but they had handed out all the bands during the extra magic hour. We had asked specifically and were told they don't get handed out until regular park opening. I am so annoyed that they can't follow their own rules. We are done trying for one of these magic candy canes.

We got a couple of candy canes last year. The first time I dropped our CC in one of my shopping bags and completely forgot about it until a couple of weeks later. When I finally opened it no one in my family was all that impressed, but I figured maybe that was because it wasn't fresh anymore. So later in the season we got another one, and that time I opened it immediately and we actually tasted it before even leaving the store.

Honestly none of us understand all the hype over the taste, but maybe we're just not that discriminating when it comes to sugar and peppermint. ;)

I definitely think it's sad that details about how the process is going to work can't be communicated effectively, adhered to, and handled the same at both parks. That doesn't seem like a lot to ask. :confused3:

My husband wanted to try again at DL this time. Again EE day and all canes were gone by the time we could get in. I asked what happens to the ones that aren't claimed and she said they are so popular now that there are maybe 1 or 2 that don't get claimed. I think they don't want to hassle with all the people jockeying for the last candy cane. I say the candy canes aren't worth it but my husband wants to try anyway... Now, it's just a challenge. If I had a choice I wouldn't bother. They were good but not that good... At $13 a pop, I could think of so many other treats I'd rather have!

I actually wrote to Disneyland about this. I'm wouldn't be upset about missing out because of bad luck or chance. It's a special, limited thing and I understand that. But the lack of knowledge on the part of CM's at giving out information and then failing to follow their own process is very frustrating. Had we been given the correct information, we would have acted differently. (Or had the CM's followed the correct process, I'm still not sure which side was wrong here...)

I don't expect anything back from Disney, but I hope someone at least realizes how annoying something like this is on the part of the guest.

(And before anyone says it, yes, I know it's just a candy cane. :thumbsup2 It's not really a big deal. I just thought Disney should know there was an issue.)

I came here looking for info on trying to get a Candy Cane (bucket list for several years), during an EMH morning. We will be in the park Monday & Tuesday and Candy Canes will be selling both days, but both are during EMH days. IMO, DL should only sell these on non EMH days so that everyone gets the same chance. Even if they didn't give out wrist bands until normal opening time, you know the line would be filled with EMH people, so that would not help.

From reading the posts here, it doesn't sound like I should waste precious morning minutes to try. Probably better to go to the non EMH park each day. :sad2:

When I walked by Candy Palace on our early entry day, there was no line and they were handing out wrist bands. You're probably fine if you go there right at park opening. They were still giving them out an hour or so after opening that day too (Tuesday). No idea how much later they gave them out, but it wouldn't have been hard to get one despite it being an EMH/MM day.
