candy canes??

Maybe most people don't realize they are available at Candy Palace too! Thanks for the reply DahliaRW! We will give it a go. :goodvibes

I had such a different experience when we were at DL/DCA a 12/4-12/9. :santa:

We were not staying at a DL hotel so we didn't have early entry. We went by the schedule posted. On 12/5 we were at the DL turn styles 45 minutes before park regular opening. When we were let in (about 15 minutes before scheduled opening and there were castmembers stopping us all at the hub - I call 'staging position) and we were directed into the candy cane line. All your party needed to be in line (all that wanted a candy cane) and there were castmembers to prevent line jumping.

We waited in line perhaps 15 minutes and got an armband for the first batch. We could pick up any time before 4.

On 12/8 the canes were being made at Trolley Treats. Again we were early to the DCA turn styles. We walked right down the street and there was not line to get a wrist band. Again for the first batch.

Worth the trouble - for sure. We got them last year and they were delish. They will be the special treat in stockings this year.

Are they worth stressing over if you don't get one? Heck no, your at DL/DCA - enjoy the magic and I agree don't get the ones not made on property...eww.

We were able to get 3 canes at DL this morning. We are staying off site but had a 7:10am reservation for the Plaza Inn breakfast so we were let in right at 7 with the EE/MM people and were able to stand in a short line (less than 5 min) to pick up a wrist band and still get to Plaza Inn on time. Our batch was ready at 9:30am but we picked them up closer to 10:30. We'll give 2 to friends and family and keep one for ourselves. Looking forward to trying it when we're back home. We did not get a chance to watch the process - the park was getting insane at 10:30am and we wanted to get the heck out but we are going to go take a look on Tues AM when we're back there.

I'm hoping it's as delicious as folks say - something just felt wrong paying >$40 for 3 candy canes!

I give them a smash and put it out in a candy bowl at Christmas. Very pretty and it's nice to share. :goodvibes All shards then go onto ice cream.

We got one to try on our trip, and I'll be honest, it was good, but I didn't feel like it was special enough for all the hooplah. We sometimes buy small batch made candy canes near home made with molasses, and honestly they are better, so we might just be spoiled!

I joined the mass crushing down Main Street for them in 2010... they were SO good but - I am probably the only person who things this - I wish they were smaller and a little cheaper! :rolleyes1 They were bulky to carry around and it took me so long to get through it that I was kind of sick of it by the end. Share them for sure!!

Cracked open our cane we got this past Sunday and it is soooo yummy! I love the extra peppermint and the "freshness" which I did not understand until I tasted it myself. Glad we got one but agree with other posters- in the end, it's just a candy cane so not worth stressing and losing sleep over. If you have an opportunity to get a cane (as we did when we had a 7:10am Plaza Inn ressie even though we did not have EE/MM) go for it.

I do like it's size- the thickness is fun for crunching on - I wish all manufacturers used this much peppermint oil.

We were lucky to be in the right place at the right time at DCA on our recent trip and got two wristbands! The candy canes made it home in one piece - I kept them in my carry-on luggage :)

Here we are two weeks later and we just decided to crack one open (the other is on the Christmas tree as a souvenir). Lo and behold I break off a piece and... is that a hidden Mickey inside? It sure looks like it! Has anyone else noticed this or have I just gone Disney crazy?
