Candy Cane Inn or Carousel?

Help!

I don't know which hotel to book Candy Cane Inn or Carousel - the price is the same so which would you pick and why?

Candy Cane

The owners actually manage the place (so I've heard), and you can tell in the detail & service, they offer deluxe continental breakfast, which is better than the simple fare normally served. Rooms are nice, place is quaintly decorated and clean.

Pool is small, but I like it better than the rooftop one they have at the Carousel.

It's a little farther to walk, however, they offer a free shuttle for their guests to use.

I haven't stayed at CCI but at Carousel last time I was there (Oct 2008) the A/C was so loud it literally kept me up all night. Everything else there I LOVE though. It could be the A/C was so loud becase we were in a room with hardwood floors-no carpet to deaden the sound.

Friends stayed at the CCI whilst we were at the Carousel and both they and us prefered the Carousel for the following reasons:
1. Carousel has bigger rooms
2. Carousel had bigger breakfast room
3. Carousel was literally across the road from DL whilst CCI is half a mile walk (CCI does have a dedicated shuttle though).
4. Carousel was 30% cheaper when we and they stayed there
5. Carousel rooms had microwave

CCI definitely has the nicer grounds, both have small pools.

Having said that CCI has a real loyal fan base here, it is family owned and so service is probably going to be more consistent, there have been recent complaints with Carousel service and maintenance of late. I don't think you will have a bad stay at either property though...
