CANDY BUFFET for my DD graduation party I NEED HELP..Please

I really LOVE this idea and so don't the girls in work. We are planning a Surprise Baby Shower for one of our co-workers at the end of June. We don't know what sex the baby is yet, she doesn't want to know and it is her second child.

Does anyone have any ideas on holders/containers for the candy on the table? We aren't going to have any chocolate candy there as the Mom to be doesn't eat chocolate during her pregnancy and we don't want to tempt her. Also, what type of container would you have for everyone to put their candy in to take home/back to their desk? (Can't wait to see everyone at work hyped up on all of this sugar).
Thanks for any suggestions.
Jenny

I brought Clear , Yellow, Blue(School Colors!) chinese take out containers! You could have a blast with baby shower you could get the paicifier sweet tarts and jordan almonds in Pink and Blue ! you could even use Yellow and Green if you would like! You could go to a party store and buy pink and blue m&m's or buy them on line and personalize them! Or if you want to go cheap goto the dollar store and buy the clear bags with designs you get 24 or 30 for $1

 didnt someone have a listing of candy sites on here ??? i've been thru all seven pages 2x & still cant find it ...help !!! i'm gonna do this for my 10th anniversary party:love:

Alot of the posters have had alot of luck with local candy shops or buying clearance at CVS type places and warehouse stores (BJs, COSTCO) This the the place that I used (they were really good and careful with shipping since candy has to be shipped at certain temps):

This may sound wierd but for containers use things like a baby tub, potty seat, toy wheelbarrows, sand pails, tub toys, bottles, sippy cups. At my shower they used a baby tub full of ice to hold drinks.

anyone have anymore pics to post? My party is apprx 1 1/2 weeks away!!
I would really love to see some of those others pics!!!! of parties just passed!
or anyone that hasnt posted any yet!!!:goodvibes

I was in walmart candy section today and saw they have the GIANT swirl lollipops for only 90 cents...just an FYI for anybody looking!

Something that I haven't heard mentioned, and should be thought about is having some sugar-free items for the diabetics in the crowd. Being diabetic, it would be dissapointing to see everyone enjoying the candy buffet knowing I couldn't participate. Even just having one type of sugar-free candy would be a nice gesture.

Great point! :thumbsup2 I did have one sf option on my buffet but I guess I should have had more. I posted a pic of my buffet and menu a few pages back.

Thanks!

Thanks. That is the last item I need and I have been going crazy looking for them.

Funny they had those lolli's at our local walmart but they were priced $1 each.

They were a buck at mine too, I didn't buy any because I didn't want to buy enough for all the kids and don't want to start a war at our cookout. They would look so cool on the table though....mabye I could use them as prizes for games at the end of the nite.

They also had them at our Walmart for $1! I was looking at them and still may get them as I have another week to do it! :)

I found the swirly pops at Walmart. Thanks to everyone who mentioned it.

I bought clear cellophane bags for the candy buffet (DD's graduation). I am attaching a copy of the Dr. Suess poem "Oh, The Places You'll go"
Below the poem I wrote "Thank you for joining us as we celebrate (DD's name) "sweet" road to success.

Thank you also to the person who reminded us that we should also include sugar free items. There are at least 3 people that are coming to the party that are diabetic. I would not want them to feel left out.

I just recently went to a grad party and saw the cutest thing. They took those mini Resses peanut butter cups and flipped them upside down after removing the wrapping. Then with either frosting or some other kind of edible "adhesive" they attached some rectangular chocolate cookies and then the finishing touch was some white frosting on the top so your finished product looks like a graduation cap.:thumbsup2 it was really cute..and tasty too.:rotfl:

My DD8 now wants a candy buffet for her 9th party. I found a site that others may be interested in. It sells old fashioned candy. You can find links based on what decade you grew up in. I grew up in the 70's and they sell candy cigarettes, wax lips and other candy you don't find easily anymore. It also has a very good selection of sugar-free candy, including Hershey bars!

ETA: It would be helpful if I added the link. http://www.oldtimecandy.com/

We just had DD's Sweet 16 Luau Party...
We had a candy buffet. I put all the candy in sandpails from the dollar store.
We had

Swirly suckers
Pixie Sticks
Mini candy bars
Mike and Ikes
Skittles
M & M's
Lots of Bulk
Hersey Kisses
Candy necklaces.
And a whole lot more

Most of the candy came from Sams and BJ's. Some from the Bulk Food Aisle at Wegmans (our local grocery store)

We bought tropical cups for the kids to put the candy in. After they filled the cups they put them into baggies and we twisted them up with a pipe cleaner and put in a little paper umbrella and cupcake pick with hawaiian flower on it. Very very cheap and cute.

We had a Tiki Bar (Grass skirt stapled on table, tropical table cloth, flip flop lights, blow up beach balls) making frozen non-alcholic drinks with umbrellas...big hit!

All snacks on the food table were also in sandpails and we used shovels to serve. We didnt have a cake we had cupcakes from Sams with Hawaiian flower picks and paper umbrellas on them. The kids all came in shorts, flip flops and tropical shirts and had a great time. The DJ was fantastic and it was a great night.......

I LOVE this! You must post pictures!

This is awesome. I am having a Luau Pool party for DD9 and her friends as well as a group of my friends so I have been searching for ideas. So far I have decided on the following candy: tropical skittles, starburst and gumballs, rainbow twizzlers, unicorn pops, tootsie roll fruit candies, whirly pops, Trollie gummy rings and pixy sticks.

I have a few questions for you:
1. Did you take pictures? If so, can you post them or PM so I can see how the food and candy looked in the pails.
2. What type of food did you serve?
3. Where did you purchase the tropical cups from? What type of cups are they?

THX

Terry--
You should check out some of the mardi gras & bingo supply stores if they are open right now. And definitely Party City--they have lots of luau stuff that is pretty reasonable.

As far as food--here's an idea--you could do bar-b-q skewers with mango/pineapple marinades or dipping sauce, grilled papaya/pineapple/bananas, virgin daiquiris.

Post pics after you do this!
