CANDY BUFFET for my DD graduation party I NEED HELP..Please

I am doing this for DD's graduation. I went to the Dollar store and got megaphones (yes, she is a cheerleader). They had the megaphones in DD's school colors. I will use them as "spill over" containers.

I was loving the idea of the Candy Warehouse until I saw the shipping charges. :scared1: It would have been great to get candy in her school colors as well.

Keep the ideas coming!!

I am stealing this idea too for our 4th of July cookout!! I have picked up some plastic bowls at Walmart and already started gathering the candy. We are using plastic bowls and other containers to put the candy in since it will have to be kid friendly. :thumbsup2 I haven't told DD anything about it, I plan on setting it up before she gets outside.

I have never heard of this before. What a cute idea. DD is only a sophomore, but I just told DH that we are doing this for her when she graduates.

Good luck to all of your graduates this year and congrats!

This is a great thread! Tomorrow we are having DD's First Birthday Party and the theme is Candyland....I have a nice candy buffet set up...now the challenge is to not eat it all before the guests arrive!

This sounds like something I was discussing with my DD for her "sweet 16" party next year. She wants a chocolate fountain and I told her she should have a "sweet" "sweet 16."

The only way I would ever do a chocolate fountain again is if the kids were very mature acting, I did this for my dd 17th birthday years ago and it because the biggest mess you have ever seen in your life...the kids were actually playing in it...geez

For those of you who did this as a goody bag type thing, how did actually arrange it. Assuming it was all set up in the room the whole time the party was going, did you hand out baggies at the end and tell everyone to fill up. Or were people just going up whenever they felt like it throughout the party. This would be great for my sister's sweet 16.

Okay, sorry haven't read the entire thread, but we went to a wedding last summer with a candy bar and it was BEAUTIFUL!! The wedding colors were the pink and that pretty pale green and they had candy all in those colors in big clear glass containers of all shapes and sizes ( I think many were vases) They had little bags that she had stamped with their initial and date of the wedding for a take away bag. There was rock candy, pink and green candy fruit slices, mms with their name, starburst, pastel mints, on and on.........it was really one of the prettiest displays I have ever seen

I have not read all the other responses either but i was at a wedding reception that had a candy table that had candy that was popular when we were born/young. We are in our thirties so there was candy cigarrettes, now and later's, pixie sticks, fun dips and much more. Just an idea.

We did not have ours set up until the last our of our wedding. The caterer's set it up in the foyer and as people left they filled up on candy.

Another option is to set up and have it covered with draped cloths and take the cloths off when you are ready.

I posted a pic a few pages back.

I am in charge of next years after prom party and will definitely have to find a way to incorporate something like this into the food area!

Much thanks! Folks around here THINK that I am very creative....they just don't know about the DIS!

We just had DD's Sweet 16 Luau Party...
We had a candy buffet. I put all the candy in sandpails from the dollar store.
We had

Swirly suckers
Pixie Sticks
Mini candy bars
Mike and Ikes
Skittles
M & M's
Lots of Bulk
Hersey Kisses
Candy necklaces.
And a whole lot more

Most of the candy came from Sams and BJ's. Some from the Bulk Food Aisle at Wegmans (our local grocery store)

We bought tropical cups for the kids to put the candy in. After they filled the cups they put them into baggies and we twisted them up with a pipe cleaner and put in a little paper umbrella and cupcake pick with hawaiian flower on it. Very very cheap and cute.

We had a Tiki Bar (Grass skirt stapled on table, tropical table cloth, flip flop lights, blow up beach balls) making frozen non-alcholic drinks with umbrellas...big hit!

All snacks on the food table were also in sandpails and we used shovels to serve. We didnt have a cake we had cupcakes from Sams with Hawaiian flower picks and paper umbrellas on them. The kids all came in shorts, flip flops and tropical shirts and had a great time. The DJ was fantastic and it was a great night.......

In my search for everything blue and white, I found rock candy and saltwater taffy in light blue and I believe in yellow as well. I visited many web sites so I am not sure where I saw them but they are out there. Good luck.
