Are candles in your room allowed?
My DW is a candle nut and last cruise despite all of our preparation we discovered that the one thing that we were missing was her candles. It would have been the perfect touch to a nice evening on the verandah to have a candle glowing or had one in the room at other times

To be honest I don't know, however, and this is just my opinion

don't do it.

#1 NO SMOKING, means do not light up; I'd take that to mean do not light light up anything

#2 - you are in a confined area; far too easy to start a fire if the ships moves or jerks, I wouldn't light a candle

#3 - while you might enjoy the scent, that stuff travels and other people might have an issue about the smell and be alergic or something; Please have some consideration about your next door neighbor

Either way have a great trip.

I would think that candles would be a big no-no on the ship. They don't allow smoking or ironing in the room for fear of fire so I think candles would be out as well. If she really wants some type of scent I'd go for potpourri or one of the gel air freshners.

Nope - candles are not allowed. One of our neighbors got a strongly worded letter about using candles. I overheard them complaining....

These are rather pricey but very neat. I work for a major theme park (not Disney but the other big one in Orlando) and while we were researching things for our newest ride we came across these. They are battery operated candles. They are actually wax and have a small flicker bulb inside the pillar. It is very realistic. The web site is www.greatideas.ws . You may want to check that out if candles are a must.

FYI --Candles are not allowed anywhere near the ship - they will be taken at first sight of them - One of the cruisers oh about 5 months ago, set one of the rooms on fire which created what could have been a serious problem - I received a letter from Disney before the end of last year, asking us to refrain from sending candles. lighters, etc in any gift baskets we took to the ship - even tho I know many are disappointed, they do have the interest in the welfare of those that are with them.

Just too dangerous. Even on land. Some rental agreements for apartments and houses ban them, and using them can be grounds for eviction.

I love candles, but I know they can be dangerous...a good friend's niece burned down her family's home with one. She fell asleep with a candle burning, and somehow it caught her bedroom on fire. Everyone escaped, but the house suffered severe damage. Fire is even more dangerous at sea than on land.

I love scented candles, but opted to leave them home when we cruised for safety's sake.

Instead I bought some scented poutporrie (I love the Claire Burke, and JC Penney's often has it on sale!) and put it into the small tulle bags from the craft shop with the little ribbon drawstrings. I hung one in the closet, and one on each bathroom door. Each time the doors were opened, a small breeze of scent was released. Not enough to have bene smelled anywhere but in our cabin, but enough to make it pleasant. We also brought air freshener in the same scent for the bathrooms.
