We are going to WDW in December, and it will be our first time to be there during the Christmas Season. Please tell me about the CP ... what is it, when should I reserve, when are the readers announced, etc. I have never done research on this because we've never needed to. Also, what else should I be looking to see or do being there during this season? Any help would be appriciated.

The CP is the most beautiful thing at WDW during the holidays IMO. It is in the American Gardens theater at EPCOT (outside but covered.) They have a full orchestra and choir. The guest reads the Christmas story from the Bible and the performers do Christmas music. I think the readers are announced in August or so, but sometimes things get changed. You do not HAVE to schedule a dinner package, but it reserves you a seat for the show. Prices vary based on which restaurant you choose. If it is a popular narrator at a popular time I think it is best to schedule a package. There are three shows a night, the earliest one is usually less crowded because it is not dark yet. Many people prefer the later, darker shows. I think it is not to be missed, unless you are not Christian. My kids have done it twice, once when they were pretty young, and we love it. My kids have no trouble sitting through it, but we do go to church (it is, however, much more interesting than most church services!) Enjoy!

I agree with the previous poster that the Candlelight Processional is not to be missed. We did this for the first time last December and if we ever go at the holidays again it will be the first thing I book. As OP said, it is not required that you book the CP dinner package, but it is nice to have guaranteed admission and not have to spend time when you could be touring Epcot or having a nice dinner waiting on the standby line.

Thank you Dan Murphy for the 2+ minute clip. We have gone to the CP the past two years and seeing that still brought back goosebumps. Our family truly loved going. We did the dinner package the first year and found it to be beneficial. We hope to be there again this year and hoping to bring along another family whom I'm sure will love it. :wave2:
