I posted this on the theme park board also...

Have any of you done CP with a little one? Were they bored? Should we bother? We're going to MVMCP earlier the same week - I'm leaning toward skipping CP.

Or is it an absolute "must do"?

Hi

We have gone twice now, first time ds was 18 months old and second time he was 30 months old. He loved it each time, the music is beautiful and the sights and sounds kept him entertained.

I would recommend doing an early show, we did 5:00 show one year with dinner afterward and the following year dinner and then 7 or 7:30 show. I would also recommend booking dining package, it assures a seat and you can get in line about a 1/2 hour ahead of time.

Weeknights are also less crowded, we were there both times in early December.

Go and have a great time!

We went two years ago with an 14 month old and an almost 3 year old. We skipped it last year and missed it.

It is a beautiful concert and is worth seeing. However, the line to get in gets really long, early. Waiting on a long line is not something I enjoy doing with little ones. The package is worth the money because you skip the lines and get pretty good seats.

I asked the same thing last year, but my dd was only 2 1/2. I was told to consider how she would be sitting in church for that long. Well, fo her sometimes, she'd sit quietly, and others not so much. We got tickets with the CP package since it was on dining plan anyhow, and it ended up raining that night. We did go back to Epcot another night, and we watched some of the concert while we were waiting for Illuminations. I hadn't realized that you can see in even if you are not sitting in there, so you can get a taste of it without actually being in the theater. It was beautiful, but not so wonderful that I was disappointed about getting rained out with a 2 1/2 year old. A 4 year old might like it.

I agree to get the package and do the service. I do however recomend doing the 7:00 instead of the 5:00 because the lights are just so much more dramatic at night. I also thing something a little more low keyed mixed in is good for the children. I also think the family needs to be able to meet some of mom and dad's wants too and the adults will love the service. If they have been in a church service before they should be fine.

I agree that the 7PM is better. We booked a 5:15 reservation for dinner, then headed right over to the show. The timing was perfect! We did however miss the Christmas tree lighting. We came back a second night to do that. The show with all the characters before the lighting was a lot of fun for my little guys. You may want to catch that too. So if you are only planning on Epcot one night you have another choice to make. Because it would be difficult to the CP at 5 and tree at 6.

And yes, you can see the CP from outside the theater area. You would be standing in the American section of Epcot. You can see, hear the music, grab an "American" snack, even eat outside from the counter service there, and look in those small outside shops. That may work better for your little one.

We did the snack and shop thing last year because our 2 year old would not sit for anything!

Last year, my daughters were 6 and almost 2. They were both asleep! I didn't even realize you could stand outside and see the show. Like a pre vious poster said, you will be in the American section of Epcot. But as for the show, it's beautiful and reassuring that the nativity story of Jesus is still a part of Christmas. The people who read the Bible have a passion for it, and the music is wonderful!
