Candlelight Processional Package

I am trying really hard to convince my mom to take me to Disney to celebrate my graduation after fall quarter in December. I think the Candlelight Processional looks cool and is something she would enjoy. I also see that there is a dining package where you can get preferred seating.

Does anyone have any experience doing this? What would you recommend? How does it work if you are on a dining plan?

Yes, we have done it twice and plan to do it again this year...

Yes, you can use the dining plan...But they will ask for a credit card number just to hold the reservation when you book...You only get charged if you do not show up...But it requires only 1 credit on the plan...

There are two lines into the processional...A general admission line with the chance you will not get a seat or one very far back...And one for the people with the package...We get a seat no matter what...They are not the "best" at front and center...They are a bit off to the slide but very close up...We were able to see everything with ease and we did not have to wait on line for an hour or more like other people that were there at the same time as us...The line can get long but moves quickly...

When you get the package you will eat first...At the end of the meal you are given a ticket to get into the show...

Well worth it...You get a really nice meal and you avoid long lines and there is no way you get shut out of a seat...It is win, win IMO

The show itself is beautiful...Very religious in nature...Really well done.

We did the CP package last year. I thought it was a great deal if you pay OOP, it only cost a little bit extra per person. I have seen the CP a couple times without the package, and I enjoyed how the stress of making sure to get in a show was eliminated with the package.

You will make the reservations through Disney Dining, however, there's a certain date that they start booking. I don't believe the date has been announced yet, but last year I think they started booking around June. The 90 day ADR limit does not apply for these, btw. As for what time to eat, it depends on which show you want to do and whether or not you want to eat lunch or dinner. If you go to the first show, then you will be eating lunch. The last two shows are dinner. We opted to do the last show because we wanted it to be dark as possible and I believe we ate at either 5:35 or 5:45.

We did the CPP this past December and it worked out great! We did Biergarten because we really like it and it's in the cheapest tier. We didn't want to have to order food we didn't need/want. Once the show before us emptied out, they opened our line up and we were able to grab a seat wherever we wanted. We weren't restricted to a certain area. We sat dead center, front row on that main aisle that separates that front section from the rest (we didn't want to be too close). It was so beautiful. Can't wait to do this again some time!

In 2007 on the dining plan:

All restaurants (regardless of their assigned "tier") cost 1 TS credit (or one deluxe dining meal credit). I believe it's required to give a credit card number to guarantee the reservation. It won't be charged unless you don't cancel or don't show up for the reservation.

If you were on the basic dining plan, and the restaurant you chose was not a buffet or family style, you were entitled to 1 entree, 1 dessert and 1 non-alcoholic beverage (basic dining users did NOT get an appetizer). Deluxe dining plan users were entitled to 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert and 1 non-alcoholic beverage. Children on the dining plan (3-9) were required to order from the children's menu.

I think June 23rd was for 2008. I called dining and they told me they don't have a date yet, but their best guess would be closer to if not at 90 days. I guess we will all have to keep our ears open and let everyone else know for sure.
