I was looking at allearsnet.com's information about CP from last year......it talked about 3 tiers of dining.....different restaurants different set prices. But then when I look at the menus of these restaurants on a "regular" day, I can't get the prices to come even close. I thought the CP was free and you simply got reserved seating by eating at one of the restaurants (kinda a way to get you to eat at a TS first). But it appears that if it's the same menu then you're paying quite a bit in some cases for those reserved seats.

OR

Am I missing something, like the nights of CP each of the restaurants have a special menu???? But I would think that if there was a special menu than Allears would have linked to what was on that menu????

We really want to see CP, and of course we're going to have to eat, so the idea of doing one of the few TS meals that same night so that we could have nice seats without an hour wait in line was definitely appealing, but not if I'm paying a huge price for the tickets themselves!

Help! I want to understand how this all works, lol.

we did Coral Reef for dinner, so it was like$47.99 per adult...I believe it included the same as the ddp...last year was appetizer, entree, dessert, and non alcoholic drink. that will probably changes some this year w/the change in the ddp, but that's just my guess. I thought I got my $47.99 worth. we went Christmas Eve, which dining most places on Dec. 24 is more anyway. I'd do it again. We saw Gary Sinise and had a great time!

I don't know. DH & I had a late lunch at the Coral Reef last year and our bill was $135 or so for two people, that works out to more than $47.99 pp.

I do see the price differences you're talking about on Allears, I'm sure they up the price slightly for the dinner package, but it would be worth it to me to have a guaranteed seat for the CP and not to have to stand in line as long. For the buffet/AYCE meals, I'm wondering if that "Holiday" pricing comes into play.

We're planning on eating at Marrakesh before the CP, assuming it's on the list again this year for the package.

Hope this helps!

I seem to recall when DW and I first did the CP package the price worked out to just about what you would pay for an appetizer, entree and dessert if selected a la carte. They have probably instituted a small increase as a way of increasing revenues for this popular program but IMO it is well worth it. I consider it a splurge, I am eating a full three course meal instead of just the entree and a split dessert if DW and I ate there without the package, and I know I will get a really good seat for the CP show.

BTW - our restaurant of choice is R&C.

If you do not do the CP Dining Package, that reserves you a seat, the remainder of seats are on a first come-next in line - whats left if any basis.

The dinner package guest will construe a large part of the line that develops prior to the show stretching into other country showcase areas. It is not uncommon for the package guests to take all the seats as Disney is making a pretty good additional revenue stream out of the CP event.

The bottom line is the CP is free but dining package guest are reserved seats and it is not uncommon for non-dining package guest to be turned away. The popularity of the show has driven people to do the dining package to ensure a seat for the show...so in essence and indirectly people have started to pay Disney to see the CP.

I learned my lesson about CP years ago so now I am happy to ADR and be guaranteed a seat at a certain time. Years ago we stood in line for CP for first time and of course the seating filled up right when we got to the front (we didn't want to have to wait for the next show as we new it was going to rain heavily which it did start about 20 mins later - we were standing there watching what we could until it rained). My first PS was for CP was at Garden Grill which we like to eat at anyway so I wasn't upset about paying the cost anyway. Last year we had the ADR for Coral Reef for Late Lunch with early CP and we also had the dining plan and this really worked out wonderfully for us. The Lunch was expensive but paid for on dining plan and we had just enough time to take the boat back to Morocco and walk right in to 5:30 CP with no waiting in line, had a wonderful seat location and only had about 15 mins to wait for CP to begin. I had my elderly grandparents on the trip with me so the timing of this really worked out perfectly. You may want to consider picking up the dining plan if you can.

It is basically the same menus for the CP dining pkg. As far as I know there is no special menu( but I went a few years ago).
