Candlelight Processional dinner package question

I noticed on a few threads that people who booked the dinner package for this event still waited on line for up to and even over an hour to get a seat for the show? I don't understand why this would be necessary if you are guaranteed a seat? Is it just to get a better seat?

Trying to decide if we will do this. I think my kids would love it, but not if we need to wait on line for an hour beforehand. I was hoping we could have dinner, walk over, get in line and be seated within a reasonable amount of time.

Thanks!

If you get the package you will have a seat.

If you get the package and get in line around 45 minutes to 60 minutes prior you will get a very good seat.

If you wait until the line goes down (around 15-20 minutes prior) you will get a seat most likely in a side or back area.

I believe they say to get there at "least" 30 minutes prior even with the package.

With the package you get to sit, no matter what. Here are a couple of things to consider.

Depending on which show you go to, and when you go the line can be incredible long. The I have a ticket line mind you. There are more than enough seats, but if you want front row center, you need to be there early, if you don't mind middle row left you can wait a while.

Either way you are waiting the hour long line on long line days. Get there early and sit for an hour or get there late and wait with the other 250 people who are also waiting for an hour. Just depends on where you want to wait.

If you are seeing the last show of the day, AND you want to be in the special place for the fireworks, getting in line later is better. the closer you are to the exits the faster you will get to that special section. And on the last show of the day, EVERYONE with you at your show is going to go for those sections. And they do fill up. And you don't have a lot of time to get to them either. Maybe 15-20 minutes to go from the arena hall all the way back to the area of the bridge. Last time we did it we were about 2 rows from the exit and got next to the railing in the special section, but we huffed it. Remember, people who went to the earlier shows who are still at the park for the fireworks will beat you to the special section because they didn't have to wait until the last minute to get in line there.

All that said, My kids and I really enjoyed it and we made it to the fireworks in time to enjoy that too.

In years past I would say no and maybe the earlier one you might get a seat. You can also listen from the back areas. We had Jodi benson in dec the voice of the Little Mermaid and there were no seats avail to those not on the CP package.

You dont need to wait an hour unless you want front and center.

The reason you're guaranteed a seat is that they let the package group in before they let in the general public, so you get first pick of the seats. However, everyone in front of you in the package line is going to be picking seats before you will. If you don't care where your seats are, you don't need to be in the front of that line. If the narrator is popular, there will be more people who want front and center, and they are going to line up earlier.

You do have to arrive before they let the general public in, or you lose the seating advantage you paid for when you booked the package. That's why you have to be there at least 30 minutes before the show. That doesn't mean you are going to be standing in the line for 30 minutes.

So is there more than one show per day?? The WDW site is not too forthcoming with information on dates/times.

It's not forthcoming because the information for 2013 has not been released yet. They will start the Friday after Thanksgiving and I believe the shows run until December 30. No show on NYE. Narrator list isn't out yet but watch out for Neil Patrick Harris. They start lining up for him in the general public line at 11 AM when World Showcase opens.

There are three shows nightly. If you want the meal package and you book lunch as your meal, your show will be the first show (last year's time - 5 PM). Not sure if you were allowed to select a show (6:45 or 8:15 - again, these are last year's times) if you booked dinner. It would depend on the time of your dinner, as dinner is always scheduled before the show.

Do you know when we can start making reservations for this or when the schedule will be out?

No information yet. Last year booking was available in June 26, so hopefully some info will be coming out soon. There is a watch thread over on the reservation board. :goodvibes

When making our reservations, we have always gave the show time first and then picked dining time and restaurant. Dining times for the first show are usually between 12:30-2:30, for the second show between 3:30-4:15, for the last show 4:20-5:45.
