Candlelight processional a MUST do?

We are going to be in WDW the week of Thanksgiving... In researching (so overwhelming!) I found out that the Candlelight processional starts right before we leave WDW. (We leave Sat after the holiday...I believe the processional starts on Friday.) I really have no idea what the processional is and whether this is something I should plan for. Can anyone help me??? Please???

It is the terlling of the Christmas Story by 'well named' narrators. A large chorus of singers, comprised of high school kids and CM's make a most magical performance. A dinner pacage is available. Here ae a few links to help you.

my wife and i took our first xmas trip last year and were completely amazed at the show. if is really a unique experience that i feel only wdw could do so well.

It's a great show. If you've never seen it before, it's worth seeing.

I've seen it twice, and I usually don't go anymore.

Check out the links and decide if you want to do the dinner package. It can be a good deal if you plan properly.

We didn't believe the people talking on the boards last year about how great it is and stumbled on it accidently in Dec. Our biggest disappointment of the trip was that we didn't get there early enough to sit inside and watch it. Instead we had to sit outside where we couldn't see and listen. It sounded fantastic. Next time we go back at Christmas time we will be sure to see it!!

I would say it's an absolute must do! We went last year and even my 3 boys raved about it (and they whined about having to go at first). Colin Ray was the narrarator and he was really good.

Hope you decide to go, it's well worth it!

We saw it twice last year, and will see it again this year. And we've listened to the CD throughout the year!

I can't believe that before seeing this we thought that Disney didn't "do" Christmas properly!

I think this is definitely a must do. The show is incredibly moving. It brings tears to my eyes, and gives me the chills each time I see it. I've seen it three times, and will be seeing it at least once this December.

My family definitely considers this a "must do"! We've seen it three times and we LOVE it!!!

This year, we are trying MNSSHP, but we're already making plans to go back around Christmas time next year - and the first thing the kids asked was if we'd be able to see "Candlelight Processional" again!

We always do the package; I think its a great deal (especially since we always eat at one of the Epcot restaurants anyway!) We've tried LeCellier once, and Chefs de France twice!

One thing to remember, when looking at the costs for the dinner packages, they include virtually anything on the menu, including appetizers, entree and dessert. Often, you may not buy these items, but they are included in this package. Just an FYI. With my dieting this year, LOL, I may have to cut back a bit.

The Laughing Place lists speakers for "this year" is that the actual listing for 2003 performances?

While it's a wonderful and moving concert, the crowds will be pretty heavy that weekend. If you have to fight the crowds and wait in line for 75 minutes, you could be excused for letting it go until another time.

Maybe you'll get lucky and everyone will be at the two Spectromagic parades and two Fantasmic shows scheduled for Friday. (BTW that's our arrival day!)

Yes it is a great show, if you get the chance don't pass it up. We are doing the dinner package again with it in Dec. It is a must do for us.

Candlelight is about my favorite thing at EPCOT! I see it on average of 4 times a year except the year my mom was in it I saw it 10 times. I am in it this year on December 9th with my high school. It is an amazing show especially if you have a good nararator(My favorite is LeVar Burton of the ones I have seen.) I listen to the cd year round and it never gets old. You should definitely try and do this show.

I think your enjoyment of CP is directly related to your faith.

As a Christian, it moves me to tears. It becomes a worship experience as well as an entertainment experience. If I were going this December, CP would probably be my #1 must do attraction.

Those who are not Christians should still find the music, lights, etc. entertaining, but their reaction will not be the same as mine. I've read some trip reports from some non-Christians who were slightly bored.

What you say will be true of some non-Christians.

But as a non-Christian I also find the Christmas story and especially the music associated with it very moving and personally rewarding. I've spent many years as a child and adult practicing and performing this music, know much of Handel's Messiah by heart (I sing the bass part on the Hallelujah Chorus at CP), and my very first choral concert as a fifth-grader involved a Candlelight Processional while singing the carol "O come, O come Emanuel". This music is an important part of who I am, and CP allows me to celebrate that.

In other words, I don't think the enjoyment is necessarily directly related to one's faith. I have no problem with you enjoying the performance on the basis of your faith, so I hope you can accept that others can enjoy it just as much in their own way.

Another big yes vote for CP. I absolutely loved it - one of the reasons we are going again in December. I have the CD too. It's an unforgettable experience. Quite magical.
