I have never actually waited in the line, I've always done the dining package, but I'm curious about how the regular line works. How early do people get there? Is it OK for members of the party to leave and come back if everyone is kind of sitting, waiting for hours? Do people save spots or is that frowned upon? I'm guessing this is a controversial topic, but I was just wondering what the general practice was. Hopefully we can keep it civil. Thanks!

All I know is I saw people lined up for Neil Patrick Harris at 11am when World Showcase opened last year. I was doing a quick walk around and saw the line around 11:20am.

Ive heard for not-as-popular narrators people can start waiting 2-3 hours in advance.

For popular ones, like Neil Patrick Harris, 12 is not unusual.

Off topic, but I've always wondered why he's the most popular narrator.

People don't save spots, as in one person starts waiting at 12 and then 4 people come in right before the show. However, if two people are standing and line and one of them leaves to go to the bathroom and comes right back then that's not a problem.

From experience, it is not allowed. The exception is a brief break for bathroom, drinks, etc.

I was wondering the same thing -like could my husband and I sit in line while the tweens wandered around - looks like that would be frowned upon.

We will have my elderly mom sit and wait on a bench while the rest of us wait in line. She can't sit on the ground or stand for too long. We plan on lining up about an hour before the show, our narrator is Whoppi.

I'm glad I'm using one come tomorrow morning at 8am EST!

I saw him two years ago and it was fantastic. I'd guess he's popular because he has a really nice, expressive voice, and he's cute, too!

From experience? What happened? Were members of your party not allowed to re-join the line?

12 hours? that seems insane. And I definitely wasn't thinking about someone just showing up at the end and joining a party of one, but maybe a party of four joins the line as a group and two go off for a bit and come back, maybe they switch spots and the other two leave for a bit, they are all back in time to enter together, that kind of thing.

Do you mean that you intend to arrive and get in the standby line, one hour before the show begins?

Ah-HAH! Yup, that bit of info changes everything.
Lining up an hour before the show in the CP Pkg. line is a good plan.
We have the CP pkg. What is the advantage to lining up an hour early?

I think the poster means 12:00 not 12 hours.

There are CMs manning the line/rope, and that's how they get you.

We had a group attempt to cut under the rope ahead of us to join their party close to opening time, and a CM rushed over to stop them. They proceeded to state that they were just using the bathroom. People behind started shaking their heads in disagreement, so the CM asked us if they had been standing in line the entire time. Again, no. They were told to go to the back of the line. This was for ETTB, but the procedure is the same for CP.

I am also a bit confused as to why it is necessary to line up so early with package seating. Do they not have enough seats for everyone who bought the package? My son has Down syndrome and we have a DAS. He cannot do long lines. We got the package and I was hoping to get there a half hour in advance. I take it this will be an issue. Any thoughts or experiences from someone who has gone through that? Would it be possible for one person to save a spot for the family in line with a CP package and then have my husband and son join later?

The point for getting there early with the package is to get a better seat. It's not necessary if you aren't super picky about where you'll be sitting.

It's not necessary unless you want to be one of the first guests let in and have your pick of seats. Our family normally doesn't get in line until about 30 min before and we've always had perfectly fine seats. Depending upon the crowd that show you may be off to the side a little or more towards the back. If you're ok with that then get in line whenever works best for your family.

Ah, gotcha. Makes sense. I've only ever done the package if I REALLY want to see a certain narrator, so this is good to know. Thanks!

Yes, I meant 12 noon.

Oh WHEW! I thought 12 hours seemed insane. So, if there are three shows in one night, I guess they are really concerned about getting into the first show?
