Maybe a silly question but I'm not clear on what the Candelight Procesional actually is? Is it a stage show/ concert ? I've never been to WDW during the holidays. This year will be our first. Is this a must do?

It is an (almost) Biblical (more traditional) narration and large choir performance which retells the birth of a Messiah. Actors and vocalists are the narrators and change out every few days. The narrator will read some of the script and then the choir will perform a song, then the narrator will read more and then another song and so on. The songs are all ones you will know and they are all about Jesus. There are no performers other than the choir and the reading from the narrator. The show is quite beautiful and moving. We do not go every year, but in my opinion, if you love Christmas for the reason Christians observe, it is not to be missed. I know people who are not Christians that really enjoyed it as well for the choirs.

If you are not sure, you can watch a few little snippets of it on YouTube and decide if it is worth it for your group.

I think anyone would enjoy it as long as you like the actor who is narrating. Also, the dining package is almost a must if you want to see the processional, and even with that if you want to get a close seat, you'll have to stand in line for quite some time, esp. if it is a really popular narrator, so it takes up a large chunk of time. Last year was my first year going and Neil Patrick Harris was the narrator.

I recommend watching a video.
We do it usually 2 or 3 times a year. Once because my kids sings in the the choir so I have to get a video of her when her H.S. is there, then the second with her because she loves it and sometimes a third time if there's a narratr we want to see.
We have NEVER bought the dinning package, but we are locals and have the luxxury of wasting a day just waiting in the standby line.
We are not religious, which is the other thing, some people have problems with it being a reading of the Bible, we don't, we enjoy the performance and the story, it's a universal story, Peace on Earth how can you be opposed to that.
