Cancelling reservation

I got up at the 11 month mark to make reservations for the week between Christmas and New Year at AKV. We are not sure if we are going to be able to make it and I want to make sure my understanding of the cancellation policy is correct. My use year is Dec. So if I waited until the day before to cancel the points would go into holding. I would then have until Nov. 30 2010 to use the points.

Could someone please tell me if I’m correct or explain it to me if I’m wrong. TIA


(im not going to wiat until the last day b/c i know someone will want my reservation if we cant go but im holding out hope that we can make it!!!)

Cancelling a points reservation at less than 31 days through 1 day before check-in date will cause points to go into Holding. Points in Holding status carry restrictions such as you could only book a new reservation using those Holding points 60 days or less before the new check-in date you'd want; read page 14 in Vacation Planner for all details.

All points used in reservation cancelled less than 31 days will go into Holding status and would need to be used by end of Use Year ( Nov 30 2010). However, if you cancelled 31 days or more before check-in date you would be able to bank your CURRENT Use Year points used in the reservation ( these would be points from 2009 Use Year of 12/1/2009 - 11/30/2010 ). If you have banked points from 2008 UY in this reservation or borrowed 2010 UY points those banked &/or borrowed points would need to be used by end of 2009 UY - 11/30/2010 even if you cancelled 31 days or more before check-in because banked points may never be rebanked and borrowed points may never be 'put back' into UY they originally came from.
