Cancelling on borrowed points?

OK, I hope somebody has an answer to this because I'm confused. DH rented 200 points to his sister and her family for a ressie starting May 1st. We had to borrow nearly all the points from 2004 because we were pretty well played out on this years points (WAY too much fun last year). Anyway, their family is now backing out because the war is making them nervous. I know I have to do something on the cancel by March 31st, but what happens after that? Can we cancel a ressie on borrowed points? If we can cancel do we have to use the points before the end of the use year (Feb)? Am i taking an unplanned vacation in a 2 bedroom? Help!!

Borrowed points can't be returned to their use year. You'd have to use them in 2003.

But I could cancel and make another ressie for later in the year?

You sure can, just be sure to cancel before 30 days prior to arrival. After that, you're restricted as to when you can rebook.

If you have anything else scheduled this year you might be able to substitute borrowed points for current use year points and then bank those. Otherwise they must be used by the end of Jan. You could also rent out either the reservation or use the points for another time. Good luck.

Between the my workload in the office, the family members who were going to Food & Wine with us in November and are cancelling (another ressie to straighten out!), and now this, I need a vacation. With practically no encouragement, I'd use the ressie by myself. With 2 bedrooms, though, it's a waste. DS couldn't even go along, that's his finals week. I guess I could sleep in a different bed every nite?

That isn't a busy time at WDW, you could probably rebook it as a studio or 1 bedroom and save the rest of the points for another trip later in the year.

We had friends back out on borrowed points ressie, and the wonderful Beatrice switched as many of my borrowed points for my own ressies in that year and then I banked the unused points...Good luck
