Well I looked out on SW site and couldn't find the specific answer or possibly I didn't look in the correct areas.

We are going to WDW in November, leaving on Thanksgiving. Each of our children was bringing a friend. We already have tickets and now there is a possibilty that DS friend may not be able to attend. We won't know until closer to the date of travel. I see where to cancel the reservation on line and understand the policy of how to use the funds left from a cancelled flight. The parents paid for the ticket and were aware of the rules before the purchase as well. However my question is; is there a time frame that I have to cancel the flight? Does it have to be done in a certain time before the flight or can I do it up till the day before?

I appreciate any information that anyone can give me!

If you bought a "Want to get away" fare, your money is gone. However, you have 1 year (from date of purchase) to use the funds on another ticket . If you bought business or business select, just cancel and get a refund.

Your unused funds can only be used for the same person.

If you purchased a "want to get away" fare your money is not gone! The child has until one year from the date of purchase to complete travel using these funds. For example. If the ticket was purchased on June 2, 2011 he has until June 1, 2012 to use the money. Keep in mind if you ar doing a roundtrip ticket using this money, his return flight has to be no later than June 1, 2012.

As far as how far in advance you have to cancel the current ticket. I think it up to two hours before the flight but I am not positive and I could not find it on SWA webpage. So its best to call them.

Acutally, you don't have to give any notice. If the ticket is not used, a credit is automatically issued under the confirmation number.

I believe that's what LyonKing said...Money won't be refunded if the "wanna-get-away" fare is the original ticket, but those funds can be applied to Future SWA tickets you purchase....within ONE year of purchase. ( they won't bend on that timeframe either! I've tried!)
