Hi all,

I recently booked my first ever cruise for September 2021 but I'm now in a position to bring it forward to September this year. I know that the DCL phone lines are going to be absolutely rammed at the moment with all the cancellations due to Covid-19, so I wondered if my understanding of the cancellation policy is correct.
I read it that I can cancel the cruise with no penalty because I'm more than 90 days before sailing. Is this correct? If so, I assume I would get a full refund of the deposit paid and not a credit? Would this include the Hyatt hotel and ground transfers too?
If this is the case then I can book the 2020 cruise online and cancel the 2021 cruise when things are a little calmer.
On that note, if I book online can I then ring at a later date and add on the hotel for the night before the cruise and the ground transfers?

Many thanks in advance for your help. I'm totally out of my depth when it comes to booking cruises, give my Disneyland Paris any day!

Yes, everything you said is correct. Transfers can be booked up to three days before. Hotel would be subject to availability but you could book that on your own.

As a side note, I went last month out of New Orleans. I don't know if it was New Orleans specific but they told me 7 days was the cutoff to book transfers.

Generally, yes, this is correct. UNLESS you've booked a Concierge room. Deposits on that are non-refundable. However, it's been reported that DCL will (many times) move a non-refundable deposit to another cruise. But it remains non-refundable, even if the new room is a non-Concierge room.

I wish I could afford concierge! This was just a Aft verandah room.

OP love your username....we have a granddaughter named Luna :)

Personally I would not cancel your 2021 cruise yet. Wait to see what happens in the upcoming months.

If cruise lines are still shut down in September then it’s all over for us.

I too agree that you should not cancel your original trip. Make a deposit with your second plan and make the decision just before your final payment date. You most likely have the best price already and might regret giving up that cruise after you’ve had your first.
i’m telling you, that depression of walking off the ship a couple days after, is real!
