Cancelled the Radisson

How bout stayin at Radisson, Driving to port myself to drop off wife, 2 kids, luggage, then driving myself back to free park at Raddisson. Then whats up with me WALKING back to port to meet family and luggage. I mean its not a hike up a mountain..its flat 'ol Florida........and realistically how far is the walking distance: 3 miles maybe? Heck I walk 8 miles a day at Epcot, and I'll be scarfin down a weeks worth of calories on a 3-day cruise so its pre-emptive exercise..... maybe an hour walk? Otherwise, booking a shuttle for myself only back to port to meet family is an alternative. QUESTION; How far in advance can we "add my name to Radisson shuttle list"? :wave2:

LillysDad:

I was going to tell you your CRAZY for walking, but then I saw where you live... We also live in Massillon!!!

I would still not walk from the Raddison to the port, but if you really want your exercise....

Lilly's Dad - do exactly what you said EXCEPT for the walk back. Here's why - if your wife has all your documents except for an ID (to get you back in the terminal) then you are all checked in and there isn't a real rush to get back. Then you can go to the Radisson and wait for the first shuttle that will fit 1 person. Even if you have to wait for 1 or 2 shuttles to pass....I'm sure that would be quicker than the VERY LONG walk back to port.

As for the posters about the Radisson - I stayed there - nothing great. I only have 1 question - Has anyone really seen the Radisson stick to the reservations for the shuttle? When we were there, they took people who weren't even part of the reservation list. I had to wonder if they were bumping others...like a first come first serve appraoch. And I know they told the people they had a reservation, but....there is no way that the first shuttle wasn't full with ressies when they were allowing walk ups to go on.
JMO!

isn't it just like 3 miles from radisson to Port? Or was that the distance to that Ron Jon I read about?

We stayed at the Quality Suites (just down the road from the raddison) Its a sister hotel of the raddison. They said we could cache the shuttle and we had to book it at chekk-in. Due to bad weaher we did not check-in until about 730 the night before the cruise, i was worried sick that all the early shuttle spaces would be gone. but when I checked-in we were able to book the 10am shuttle. We got there and we had to show our little ticket. We were on the shutte, and at the poet by 1015.
We liked the quailty suites because it only has 48 rooms was 89 and had a LR and a BR.

I have a ressie for the Radisson for Nov. 5 1 night booked under the "cruise" room price. I just called and the woman started a sheet for that date for me. The shuttle starts at 10:30 AM and runs every 1/2 hour. We booked onto the 11AM shuttle. Hopefully it will all work out. We are on the western cruise and booked a Cat. 3 stateroom so we will be able to board prior to the main line from what I hear so I am not worried about getting there to line up. Good Luck to everyone.

We just changed our ressies. We had booked the Radisson but I just had that "gut" feeling about it after reading some threads on this board. We were paying approximatley $140 after taxes for one standard room.

We just went on to Priceline and got the Holiday Inn (3 stars)near the airport for $62 total. We will now reserve a towncar for Saturday morning instead of wondering of we can get on the shuttle.

My gut also told me to change plans after reading this post all week. I cancelled the Radisson and we will be now staying at the Hyatt at the airport.

I booked directly through Hyatt and got an AAA rate. For the $45 more, it is well worth it. We were going to use a private car service to get to the Radisson anyway. Now we will use them the morning of the cruise and do not have to worry about the Radisson shuttle system.

Thanks to all for the heads up!!!

We have booked our Friday night at the Radisson, then I read about Ron Jon and got a quote from them. It was $14 cheaper than the Radisson, but that cost is made up in the $5 pp shuttle cost. I was all set to cancel the Radisson and book with Ron Jon in a studio, but then (thank goodness) I asked about laundry facilities. Studios do not have a washer and dryer and they have no other facilities on site!!! Laundry will be a must for us, as we are coming from WDW. I am pretty bummed, but hey, it is for one night and if worse comes to worse, we'll call a cab to take us to port. (can you tell I am trying to convince myself? It can't be all that bad:confused: )
