After reading about all the confusion at the Radisson with their shuttle system ( and after gottaluvEeyore called several times and got a different answer each time) we decided to cancel. We are now just gonna stay at an airport hotel and our transportation service, the wonderful MurrayHill Transportation, will pick us up Saturday morning, do a grocery stop for us, and we
will get to the Magic WHEN WE WANT TO!!!!!! Finally, a plan that works!

We stayed at the Radisson last cruise and I don't think we'd stay there again. The resort was perfectly fine, but now that I know better, I'd rather stay in Orlando and take a towncar in the morning. I have more control that way.

We didn't do the shuttle, we were the people with the poor cab experience. But, from looking in the lobby, the shuttle people werent much happier than those of us taking cabs.

We were going to change our ressies from OKW(we are there for five days) on the last nght and drive to the Radisson. DH did not think it was necessary to leave the "world" a day early. After reading this, it appears he is right, we will drive over Sat. AM for the cruise.

Thank you!

2tinks - that's exactly what we are doing next year. Stay at the airport, then take a car early to the port. We're up by 6:30 a.m. anyway, so getting an early car is no sweat off our backs.

We're staying at Hawthorne suites (5 of us) on Friday night. We have a two bed/two bath suite for $129. Then we'll take a FLTours shuttle over in the morning.

I didn't even want to deal with a hotel shuttle either.

Ok, I was going to stay at Radisson.
Then I have no worries about traffic. We once waited 2 1/2 hours on the highway waiting for an accident to get cleared up. That was scary....
I kike being close to the port, etc.
BUT......
I called today to book the shuttle and the girl told me I couldn't get advanced resv. on the shuttle. I asked why? She said it is for the CRUISE hotel package only....
So, I said...OK....Canc. my room.
I'm now staying at the new Ron Jon resort.
I now have a Budget car that only cost me $52.00 for a full size one way rental. Then I'm in charge, I don't have to rely on a Taxi, Limo, bus, etc.
The car will also allow me ample time to hit the store for Booze, etc. for the ship.

We had two rooms booked for our party of 6 at the Radisson this Friday night.
After reading Dave's site and some feedback about Ron Jon Caribe Resort I called and got a two bedrrom condo, two bathrooms with complete kitchen, tvs, washer and dryer etc, close to the beach, heated pool with a lazy river and 248' water slide for the kids for LESS than I was going to pay for the two rooms at the Radisson. This resort is 2 months old and from everything I've heard and read is supposedly great.
We are driving so the shuttle wasn't going to be used anyway. I'd rather leave my vehicle in the secure parking at the docks and have control of my own arrival and departure. For $70 the hassle and stress is NOT worth it :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

I am considering cancelling also. I wouldn't mind them not taking a shuttle ressie if they were consistent with it but they are not. The Radisson is allowing some to make a ressie and others are not allowed. It makes no sense. I will call again tonight and if I get nowhere again I will cancel.

We won't be staying at the Radisson this year either. I was able to get a room at a beachfront hotel via Priceline for $40 (including tax) so when you add the parking charge at the port it is about the same as the Radisson. We'll be able to drive to the port when we want to and our car will be there waiting for us when we get back.

We stayed at the Radisson last October and we didn't find anything special about it that would attract us back. It was fine for the night, but nothing special, IMO.

Hello Grumbo- I think our paths have crossed in the past. Do you know of a site for info, pricing and availability. Are the prices comparable to the price at the Radisson? Do you know if they offer shuttle service to the port?

We are staying at the Marriott Fairfield Inn at the airport on Friday evening before our cruise with an internet rate of 69.99 for 4 people. Free shuttle from airport, free breakfast in morning, and then using Happy Limo for transport to the cruise at 10:30 a.m. They are picking us up at hotel and get free grocery stop.

We're arriving mid-afternoon at MCO the day before our cruise, so we definitely don't want to stay there for the night. We currently have a reservation at the Radisson. When I called a few days ago to ask about adding our name to the shuttle list, the first person I spoke to said that we couldn't add our name till we checked in. When I called back the next day, that person DID allow us to add our names to the list. It's sort of like when you call CRO to make Disney resort reservations; if you don't get the right answer the first time, hang up and call back again until you do. :p It shouldn't be this way; they have should have ONE policy for this, no matter who answers the phone. But at this point, I just don't see this issue as one to want me to cancel our reservation there. My SIL & BIL are also staying there the night before the cruise, I'm going to see what happens when they call.

SeaSpray,
We also called several times but never got anyone who would put us on the list and then we started thinkin' that if we did, there might be some question when it actually came time to catch the shuttle and we just didn't want to take any chances.
Michele

SeaSpray - Why wouldn't you stay at the MCO Hyatt, even if you are arriving in mid-afternoon? Just curious, as that is what we plan to do. Is there something I don't know?

2tinksmom: I can understand how you feel. I didn't like it when I called the first time and she told me I'd have to wait till check-in to add our name to the shuttle list. We want to get to the port fairly early, not late. When I called back the second time and this other person did let us add our name to the list, I was glad, but now I worry too, about this.

QueenTrident: I know that the MCO Hyatt has a pool and everything, but DH and I feel that we'd rather take the drive to the Port on Friday and relax that evening, knowing we're close to the ship on Saturday morning when we wake up. If we were going to be arriving later at night at MCO, I'd probably have us staying at the Hyatt. Also, I was able to get the 2-king beds suite at the Radisson for $129, and having 2 teen sons, we really wanted 3 beds all together, and this room will also give us 2 TVs. My SIL & BIL are staying at the Radisson, too, so that's another reason for us to stay there. I just called my SIL and told her about booking the shuttle in advance; she'll get back to me to let me know if they let her book it now or not.

Ok, now I'm nervous!!
After reading the first several posts on this thread yesterday, I called the Radisson to inquire about reserving a seat for DH. The plan was that he would drop us off at the port and return to the hotel with my dad's car, who so kindly is letting us use it while in FL for a few days. I explained this to the girl and asked that she reserve one seat on the 11:30 shuttle. Without even checking our ressie, she suggested that we reserve a spot on the 10:30 for the whole family!! After I agreed that this would probably be less stressful, she then asked for a name and checked the reservation. We are supposedly "all set"....

dtheboys... we are on the same cruise! Who knows, after I think about all this for a few days, we may be joining you at the Ron Jon. It does look like a great hotel, especially for young, active boys :jumping1:

We did the above last week for our Feb 22 cruise. We arrived on Saturday at MCO. Rented a car for 1 day.............spent Saturday night at OKW. Then left OKW at 9:30 am drove 50 minutes to the port.........dropped our rental car off at Avis.

Avis shuttle took us to the the port. We were about 30 people back in line, to board the Wonder at around 11:10 am.

I will never stay at the Radisson again after our cruise last February I had a whirlpool room booked and had inquired about the cheaper rate that people were getting it was for the non whirlpool room told them to forget about it when we arrived on Wednesday night at 11:00 they gave us a non whirlpool suite they decided to change my reservation without my consent and they would not budget saying the hotel was booked up the room we got was gross and smelled. So if I am going to pay money I will stay at MCO Hyatt or possible looking to book Ron Jon next April when we do the 7 day

I e-mailed the Radisson, and stated that I wanted our names put on the shuttle list for the earliest time. They e-mailed me back and said they couln't do it at this time because the reservation was not held by our credit card. They said that as soon as they received the payment, they would schedule us. That is a reasonable answer. They didn't even mention that I didn't have a "cruise package".

Cancelled my room at the Radisson soon after I found out about Ron Jon. Even with the discount, I'm paying a little more for a 1 BR unit, but the pool complex and being close to the beach won me over. The fact that they have a movie theater and onsite restaurant doesn't hurt. We were going to be renting a car anyway so the shuttle was not an issue for us.
