I have been calling back to Disney routinely to try to switch resorts using my AP discount in November. While nothing has come up yet, the helpful CMs have told me to keep checking because there are cancellations that may open up a spot if I hit a lucky time.
Now I just got off the phone with a very nice CM who seemed very knowledgeable. He told me that it is a waste of time calling to look for an AP or any other discounted code based reservation because when one of those is cancelled, it simply enters the standard rack rate availability pool. So there will not be any coded discounted room availability stemming from a cancellation.
Is this correct? Silly me if so, as then I would have been wasting my time FOR SURE!
