Figured it would be too late to book a campsite at the fort for Thanksgiving! We just got our pop up camper and can't wait to try it out! Anyone ever had luck getting a site after they were all booked? Disney said call often and check the website, because they do get cancellations. Wonder what our chances are? We booked at the KOA Kissimmee for the week, but it's not as exciting as being at Disney!

Disney is right, just keep trying as often as possible. I was able to get in for Thanksgiving one year in Oct. They do get cancellations.

People will cancel their packages at 45 days before and site only at least 5 days before. Never give up! Call call, type type.

Keep trying and then try some more.
I have friends that just booked on Saturday. A premium site. Thanksgiving week.

The closer you get the better the chance. Note the date you need to cancel the KOA reservations by so you don't miss it.

Check the internet site every time that you get a chance.
Sites do pop up frequently. You just have to be there at the right time.
And, always be prepared to follow thru when you do find your site. There are probably quite a few other trying to get the same site.

Reservations that are canceled today are released in the system tomorrow morning at, IIRC, 0730. Get on the phone early to better your chances.

My advice would be this:

If you know you want a particular type of site (Premium) for example, if you can't get the full time period you want, try just a day or two. That way if you can get Monday and Tuesday on one ressie, Wednesday and Thursday on a second ressie, Friday and Saturday on a third ressie, you'll be fine. As long as they are all the same type of site (Premium in this example) you won't have to move (but you may have to check in on each ressie) or see if they can be bridged.

So take whatever you can get and try to piece it together. It would mean multiple ressie numbers and deposits but lots of folks have had success with this method. :thumbsup2

PS - we did Thanksgiving 2009 in loop 1500 and it was fun cooking turkey (on Friday the day after Tgiving) and watching the football games outside with family.
