VDH Questions for Purchasing

I just read the charts for exchanging thru disney for cruises and hotels, I knew it was a no but now its a double no lol

Side note. Won’t exchange them with Rental trades either..Sam I am…but that Green Eggs & Ham there did taste pretty good.

Some or the Tokyo resorts seem reasonable, of course theyre probably way cheaper paying cash 🤣 need to compare
Yes always compare but sometimes renting out the points yourself or a third party just isn't worth it and Disney makes it so easy and you aren't out any real dollars except for the $95 fee that is waived if you pay $99 for MMB

Some of the Tokyo ones I think I saw for like 23 points a night. If they met my standards I probably would just see it as 1:1 trade as being the same point price as a studio here and consider swapping with them.

For the most expensive Disney hotels and ABD and National geographic that looked to be a hard no, but theyre might be not as big as a spread with these more moderate options

We exchanged points for the Grand Californian before there was DVC on the west coast. Back then the rate was not too bad. And we only used points we were going to lose anyway. Got us a Theme Park view room overlooking Grizzly Peak. They also had length of stay passes for a pretty great price. Hate to say it, but those were the days! Much less complicated.

Not that I would ever do this, but does this mean we could double bank if we swapped for ABD or am I reading this wrong

I think that does mean that. Of course, the difficult thing with that is, what happens if you have to cancel? I believe the vacation points are now stuck as reservation points that have to be used in the year to which you moved it. OTOH, if you rent out your points on your own, pay cash, then I think you have a lot more flexibility - I haven't looked specifically at ABD's cancellation policies, but I do know that is the case with Disney cruises.

True def something to think about having all those points in one uy, plus I could probably never afford abd even with double banking 😅 Ive looked into it before but I cant justify the cost, maybe one day!

it's not as bad as cruises but you pay a fee to book on top of it and you points basically are stuck if you cancel, you can't make DVC reservations with them.
With the MMB the fee is waived, but I didn't know they were stuck and cant rebook dvc, good to know, too risky for me, would rather rent and book when that time comes

Well, all of Southern California is an alluvial plane... and that alluvium got there because of water... but the Army Corps has spent 100 years channelizing all of that water, so I wouldn't be super concerned.
Im not, i was just expecting earthquakes to be checked and not flooding 🤣
