For anyone who has ever canceled a vacation package with disney, how long did it take before you received your refund?? I had originally booked with a TA and then canceled (read all about it - click the link in my siggy) and booked directly with Disney. My question is, how long before my refund should be credited to my account??? I used a debit card both for the deposit and balance.

Thanks!

you dind't book though with Disney, you booked with a TA. Disney usually process the credit in about 24 hours, but as you booked via a TA, they need to cancel your reservation and request your refund so it depends also on when they actually do it.

My TA canceled the reservation on the 4th. I heard back from her on the 6th saying our cancellation has been processed by WDW and we should receive the refund within 24-48 hours but nothing yet....

Ask them for the Disney cancellation number and check with Disney. Should have been processed by now. Disney is usually pretty fast.

Thanks - I'll do that tomorrow!! The reason I'm so worried is because the reservation we booked through Disney has to be paid in full by November 22 and I don't have $2700.... I planned on using my refund to pay it..... :confused3

We received our refund within 4-5 days of cancelling. I forgot to look earlier to see if it had been posted or not. Since you are dealing with a TA, they could hold your refund for a little while depending on how thier finance department works.

It does seem like it's taking too long. I've never waited more than 3 days for a refund from Disney - they're really quick. If you call the reservations line and explain that you're chasing up a refund from a cancellation, there's a phone number and email they can give you to the department that does it. I did that last year when the regular CM couldn't confirm that a ressie had been cancelled. It was really simple - I gave them my card number and they immediately pulled up what was processed, on what date, etc.

My TA is becoming worse and worse.... She says she will not help me anymore since i canceled and i'll have to take care of this with disney myself. i called disney - one CM said they can't tell me anything because the reservation was booked by a TA. another CM said it will take 15 days to get the refund.... i don't have 15 days... i told them i needed the refund in order to pay the package i had booked through disney - they said nothing could be done.

When you cancel they tell you that it could take up 1-2 billing cycles before you see it. In actuality it doesn't take that long.

Your former agent should be able to call and get a cancellation number so that you can then call and check on the progress of the refund.

This is totally unacceptable - and I say this as someone who has been working in travel agencies for over 20 years.

Your TA knows (or certainly should) that a reservation booked by an agency is owned by the agency and that she must take care of it. If she won't help you, how about her manager? I would recommend talking to someone in authority at the agency.

I finally got fed up and sent TA an email and told her that she was being rude and unprofessional and explained to her that disney won't allow me to check on anything because SHE technically owns the reservation/cancellation -- she sent a VERY rude email back and was telling me how no other TA would have helped me this much, i'm the one being unprofessional, ect.... I called disney and asked "hypothetically" how long it took for a refund to be given after cancellation - i explained that i used a debit card, not credit - I got 5 different answers from different CM's
- 24-48 hour
- 3-4 days
- 5 days
- 10-14 days
- 15 days

I have no idea what to do....

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Try and relax. It will work out.

Thanks -- I really hope it does -- I wouldn't be stressing sooo much about this, but if i don't have the refund by 11/22 then I can't pay off our balance for our honeymoon at AKL (i have only paid the deposit so far).... And i'm quite sure disney won't care that i don't have the money...

My guess is you will have the money -- that is still ten days away but in the event you don't you need to call and ask for an extension - I have heard (read) maybe stories of people getting extensions.

Dreams converted my room only AAA to the package the day the code came out (Nov.1) and my Disney deposit for the room only has been back in my checking account for about 5 days now. Mine was a Visa debit card if that helps any. Good luck!

I used a VISA debit card as well and it's been since the 4th that the package was canceled :confused3
