So I excitedly booked one of the late August Fantasy CC double dips (the Tues-Fri one) when booking opened up for summer 2020. I partially based this off of a key work deadline that is normally in September (and really urgent the day of and before, not weeks leading up to). This years work deadline became the last week in August, and has the potential to do so next year, but I won't really know until March/April of next year. I am leaning towards also booking the Fantasy CC double dip that falls over Labor Day weekend as a back-up. While it's slightly more expensive, it may be way less stressful if my deadline ends up in the middle of the original cruise dates (I'd be allowed to take vacation, but strongly encouraged to bring my computer and be online - and I don't trust any cruise wifi for critical work purposes). All of this background is to ask, if I do have two cruises booked and need to cancel one prior to the pay in full date, am I understanding Disney policy correctly that I would receive 100% of the deposit back at cancellation? (I mean, I guess a "worst" case scenario is I am "stuck" doing a back to back with 4 days at CC total...but not sure I could convince my husband of that!!).

Yes. As long as you cancel your cruise before there date listed in your cruise documents as your PIF date, the deposit is fully refundable. You can have a look at the email confirmation you were sent to see the cancellation policy - it’s down past all the good stuff in smaller print under Cancellations/Refunds.

Thank you! I saw that but wanted to make sure my reading comprehension was correct. Though in this case I just realized I read the calendar wrong - Labor Day is not the weekend I was think of, but the next. 😠 Still, it may not hurt to have a back-up plan.

I don't have any experience with concierge, but we've been booking and cancelling to rebook people's rooms non-stop for a DCL wedding, and we've gotten everything we've put down back, not just the deposit.

I would definitely book both if you have the slightest doubt. When I was brand new to DCL back in 2005 and I wasn't sure which week exactly would be when my kids get 3 days off school, I asked a TA suggested by Mouse Savers the same question. I'd be doing one week or the other but it would be several months until the school schedule would be released. With only 2 ships back then, it was expensive to wait and see while prices climb. Back then, we could only sail if we could get in when dates were first released.

Well, the TA gave such a horrified response, you would have thought I was suggesting we roast newborns on my BBQ grill. I felt I have every right to put 2 deposits down and cancel close to a year before sailing anyway, all while following DCL's rules. Needless to say, we still have never contacted that TA office again and we're counting down to #21. Their loss.

I believe that if you are Concierge, there is a portion that's not refundable.

Correct. The deposit for concierge is non-refundable. I believe it can be moved to another date, but never refunded, even before PIF.

For a non-Concierge booking, the deposit and any funds paid will be refunded in full if cancelled prior to the final PIF date.

Enjoy your cruise!
