Cancellation of a reservation with banked and borrowed points?

Hello everyone! I’ll be making a reservation at our home resort for next year (June 2022) with banked points from this year (2021) and borrowed points from 2023 (three years of points). Can anyone clarify what happens to the points if that reservation is cancelled between now and the actual date of the reservation? I know there’s a difference if cancelling within the 30 day window of the reservation, but I’m finding it difficult to wrap my head around what happens with the points.

All points will be returned in your 2022 use year. If you haven't passed the deadline, you could bank the original 2022 points, but any banked or borrowed points would have to be used by the end of your use year.

Banked and borrowed points expire at the end of the use year that contains your vacation. Current use year points can be banked if the reservation is cancelled before the banking deadline and more than 30 days in advance.

You'll need to tell us your use year for anyone to be more specific than that.

Not always. Depends on the OP's use year. If it's August or later, the June 2022 vacation falls into his/her 2021 use and returned points would go back to his/her 2021 use year. We need to know his actual use year to say more than the general "cancelled points returned to his/her current use yea of the vacation, and th banked & borrowed point expire at the end of the current use year for the vacation".

OP said banked points from 2021 and borrowed from 2023. I did assume those are the use year.

If June 2022 vacation is cancelled before 9/30/2022, the 2022 points can be banked. That assumes reservation is cancelled more than 30 days prior to arrival. The banked and borrowed points expire on 1/31/2023.
