Google is your friend so use it and AFAIK is right there front and center and you don't need to ask us what it means, but YSAD has me lost as well.

Larry

Larry,

Mavis Beacon is your friend, I would use her. Nothing expresses emotion better than the English language. Acronyms are better suited to the military where they were used widespread.

AFAIK is a pretty commonly-used shorthand for "As Far As I Know"..... but the other one escapes me.... :confused3

Seems like it would have been simpler for Lar just to say what it meant, rather than be condescending and tell someone to look it up. BYOB.

Its true. Us military folk can carry on a whole conversation and never use a complete word, and understand it.

Yep, and so can DoD contractors. I read fluent Acronym :-) Oh, and the general rule is to spell out the acronym the first time you use it in a document, then use the acronym thereafter. Know What I Mean (KWIM)???

This website is my best friend

This is going to be a LOOOOOONG week. KWIM????

I gave this some thought and first I have to ask... Who is Mavis Beacon? Is she a friend of Tom Foolery???:lmao:

More importantly I think I figured out why our dear friend Larry is such a fan of acronyms... It makes his paragraph long sentences a little bit shorter! :rotfl2:

I wouldn't expect any less from our pal Larry! :rolleyes1

Shouldn't that be BYOK?

You are correct! Although you use B to make K!

Us IT folks have a few too. We just don't use them in polite conversation. Things like PIBCAK or ID-ten-T! :rotfl2:

IT WORKED!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU! Ill see you at the fort for Christmas!

Eons ago, my dad had Mavis Beacon typing software "Learn to Type with Mavis Beacon" or something like that, but other than that have no clue........:confused3

Wow....so you WERE able to coordinate it and cancel! Tell us how you did it so that we can offer the same! I didn't think it was possible......at least that's what the Res Center has said in the past! Details please!

Apparently, you call them up, offer them some unsolicited advice, through some acronyms at them, spend more time directing them to an answer rather than providing it, and basically that's how it works........oh, you meant the reservation cancellation????? :rotfl:

Mavis Beacon was indeed a typing tutor. Actually a fictional person but the icon for teaching typing. I was being as sarcastic as Larry was and stating that he would have better conveyed his feelings by typing them out instead of resorting to assault by acronym.
