I requested a room only AAA discount quote from Dreamsunlimited Travel and while I was waiting airfare suddenlydropped so I was in a hurry. Before I heard back from DU I went ahead and contacted Disneyworld directly and got the exact dates and discount that I wanted so I booked it, 5 nights for $369. Later today I finally heard back and Dreams Unlimited is holding the exact same thing I booked. This is a simple reservation, room only, no dining plan or packages. It's just Mom and the kids this trip. What I am really hoping for is some kind of magical upgrade to a moderate. I know that DU would watch for any extra discounts or specials that might come up, then again I probably have no chance of an upgrade like that. So should I cancel the reservation through CRO and go with DU or just give up any chance of an upgrade and stay with what I've got?

I would say go with Dreams. They will watch for any discounts. You can dream for an upgrade but I wouldn't plan on it.

Go with the TA. I'm an obsessive Disney planner, but it is quite freeing to have someone else keep tabs on good deals!! Have never used DU, tho.

Love Dreams Unlimited. They will make all your ADRs for you and also contnue to watch for better deals. You may actually be able to just turn your exisiting room only reservation over to them, I have done that before, but never when it was AAA. I suggest emailing the agent that contacted you before you cancel your existing one.

I am obsessive also about planning my trips, but once I've decided when/where to stay, I turn it over to D.U. They are wonderful. Prompt, always there when I need to speak to my assigned T.A. (Merrie!) and they will look for the discounts for you. I planned my daughter's honeymoon and am using them for our trip next May. Hope this helps in your decision.:goodvibes

Have worked with D.U twice and I'm not a fan. I'd rather book my own trip and find my own discounts.

Could you elaborate as to why....I was thinking of using them as I had heard really good things.

We are true blue Dreams fans...! If anyone has any questions or are looking for a wonderful dreams agent email: Carolyn@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com

She is so disney smart...! She will take care of all of your needs and is so prompt with responses to any concerns or questions you may have! She really seems to take pleasure in making your vacation dreams come true!

Have used D.U. more than once and for my daughter's honeymoon. I am the official vacation planner for all of our trips and research exhaustively until I find the right price everywhere else, but Disney World! I know that they will apply any discount they can possibly find and work with you until the time you leave. I have always found them to be courteous and professional. The e-mail only approach works well for us as we don't have to have an in-person relationship. I always receive quick responses to my many questions and they are very patient also. Please give them a try. I would like specifics too as to why someone would post they dont' like them and not explain why. Everyone has different experiences, but it's also good to be able to weigh the positives with the negatives on these boards. Best of luck!

I've used DU once, goodness, 7 years ago almost. I decided since it was our honeymoon I'd rather them take care of everything. I had booked with Disney myself, but transferred the reservations over to DU after a month or two. In the end I missed the joy of planning myself. I am just ultra picky about times for meals and while they did great, I probably would have picked different days for some of them. I also found I had no need for someone to try to plan out a trip so much. You know, which park which day. We are very "go with teh flow" kind of people. So in the end, unless you really need someone to do all that for you, I'm not sure there is much of a point of using DU. However, if you want to have someone do all the dirty work (so to speak) go ahead and contact them. JMO

I've used DU since 2003 for all of my WDW/DCL vacations. Merrie is my agent and I couldn't be happier. She has found discounts for me, set up my ADR's, and generally kept an eye on my plans for me. I don't follow the itinerary that they provide, but it's helpful because it shows the dates and times of my ADR's and lots of other details.

Again, not to sound flaming, but why....it would be really helpful to know why you both had bad experience with DU....so that other's can take your opinion and help make their own references. JMHO.

Another vote here for DU. I have used them for four or more trips and have been very pleased with the service I have received. I have worked with Cathy Miller on my most recent trips. Cathy watches for discounts, makes my ADRs, and is always prompt and efficient in answering questions and providing suggestions. I am a Disney planning addict! Working with DU does not take away from my planning joy, it simply allows me to focus on the fun tasks!

I have to agree about Carolyn........she is very good....she has helped me with all my reservations for the restaurants during my trip for the Free Dining Plan....she has been awesome.

I'm using them this year for my room reservation. Once I get that finagled out (got a ressie for Sports but trying to move since they're remodeling and such) and pay the deposit, then I'll see if my agent (Debi) can work on my ADR's.

My Daughter and I decided just last weekend to go to Disney for her 13:woohoo: b-day next week. Of course the agreement was that I could find some really great deals or we wouldn't be able to go. Soooo:cool1: .....I started searching and on 'MY OWN' I magically found a room at POP Century for $68.68 a night, which will be $388.00 for the 5 nights we will be there. We are splitting the cost with another mom and daughter, so our part of the room will only be $194.00 for 5 nights!! :lmao: I downloaded an e-book that was on sell for 19.95 split the cost with my friend, so technically the book costs me $9.98. Found - 4 Day Magic Your Way Park Hopper Ticket (14-day Expiration) Receive a 5th Day Free!for 245.98 (tax included) (WDW's are 267.32 for 4 days). and you can pick up your tickets for free at the location or have them delivered to your hotel for 5.95! :rotfl: So, A trip of course not including meals, gifts, etc. will cost my daughter and me $685.96 for 5 nights and 5 days at the Wonderful World of Disney! And a plus, I have Disney Rewards to redeem for Guest Services for my food, etc.So now, we are just counting the days til we are off to WDW, just waiting to leave:rolleyes1
Said all that to say this, you can do it on your own if you want to put the time into it!!! Good-Luck and use ever which way you are happy with.;) Have a wonderful time a Disney :wizard:

I don't think you can go wrong using DU. As PPs have said they are great and do alot of the work for you. If you enjoy doing the planning and hunting yourself that I wouldn't transfer the res, but if you would rather someone else do all the legwork I don't think it would be a problem to transfer it to them and let them manage it from there.

Either way hope you have a magical trip!!

We have used DU for five trips (two DCL cruises and 3 trips to WDW including our up coming trip) and have found the service to be wonderful (even sending my dd's notes in the mail from Mickey and Cinderella). As far as ADR's I am very specific to which days and times I want (this very important for me as I do all of my planning using TGM) and my TA Cathy has done her best to accomodate us. Also that means I don't have to waste my time on the phone. Though they provide an itinerary I prefer to create my own but our TA has always done a great job finding extra discounts. Every little bit helps.:wizard:
