Canadians Looking into DVC

Hello to all,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I called Tammac today and asked them about financing outside the US. It is correct that they don't finance outside the US including Canada. They referred me to a company called Travelers Financial Group. If anyone needs the number please send me a pm and I will be happy to get you the information.Have a great day.

Best regards,
Jamie

We bought all our contracts direct from Disney they mae it so easy it is hard to imagine going to the resale market. Disney makes all the arrangements no closing costs you can have the payments come directly off your CC if you like. It was far better than the headaches of resale and waiting to see if the seller accepts your offer and then waitinf on ROFR.

.....My DH and I both have to sign if we want those points. :sad2:

Do you have a Power of Attorney set up?

That was our option if DH were to go to Fla and purchase through DVC (I wanted my name on the deed too!!;) After all, who does all the planning!!LOL)

HTH!

Found that out the hard way when I called our guide yesterday. I thought I had it made because I'm going down with my daughter on August 28 and I wanted to do a small add-on while we were there. My DH and I both have to sign if we want those points. :sad2:

Or...how's this for creative thinking..??

What if the add-on was "just for you"...would you be able to do the small add-on? Or would DVC make you buy the whole 150 points...hmmm:scratchin

Something to ask, anyway:)

HTH!!

Great thread... eh!

What are the financing options for Canadians? As far as I can see it is only DVC directly, as Tammac only deals with US Citizens I am told.

If you can get a Line of Credit you'll be looking at about 4%-5% and then you can deal with your own bank.

Unless it's for 150 pts or more, it must be listed the same as the original contract. I wonder if a power of attorney would work, I'm thinking not if it were done in an area where DVC can't sell. But someone should find out for certain if it's important to them.

My daughter would be only too happy to go for Power of Attorney for her dad. She'd probably never come back from WDW! LOL Would be nice to have my own contract and add-on but I blew my inheritance on the first one. I guess I'll just have to wait until March. By that time maybe I'll have enough for...say....50 points! :rolleyes1

OK... I took the plunge!

Since my DW and I chatted about this the last couple of week, she has been getting more and more excited about owning SSR.

We toured DVC SSR in April, and although she understood, my DW was kinda disapointed when I insisted on HGVC for our initially TS purchase. YES DVC is flexible, it is very expensive to purchase enough points for a 2 BR Gold Season (Dream-Magic) every year usage. HGVC also has excellent resorts and is a great trader, PLUS the resale $$$ is the best bang for the buck on the market!

I had been doing more homework again on DVC and talked to our Guide to find out what the current deals are, although I was already aware thank you do my fellow DISsers <?>... Last night my DW came upstairs with the nice DVC book in hand and layed on the bed for about 45 minutes reading through it and studying the points and possibilities. Then, this morning she didn't say anything, but I noticied she took the DVC book with her to work to read and dream some more!

I absolutely love her excitement! It makes me so happy to see my DW excited like a child about everything Disney... and I just could not hold off any longer! I call my guide today and made the leap! 150 SSR points w/Usage starting March 2005. I was hoping to give this to her for her BD in September, but I guess she has to sign the documents..!?

Bottom line, prices will not be going down; We will get our usage out of the membership, regardless when we purchase; We were going to purchase whether now or 3 years from now, so might as well start enjoying it now and have it paid off that much sooner; and see the children enjoy while they are younger (1-1/2 Yr. "Little Man" and 4 yr. "Princess")

Even if she has to sign the paper work, when I receive the final documents/certificates etc., I will save it and wrap it up with a SSR Print for her BD.

Knowing the purchase was inevitable, it is nice to have it done with!

Cheers

Congratulations & Welcome Home!

I can hear the excitement in your post. You were a very "wise" man to pay attention to what the wife wanted. You will reap many "benefits because of it!

Happy "magical" Vacationing,
Tom
