Canadians any updated info on park hoppers?

Hi,

I am going in July so don't get the Canadian deal on the park tickets but I was wondering if there are any other discounts? Should I wait and see if the Canadian ticket deal is extended ?

Has Disney ever given this deal before? I am finding that the park tickets are the most expensive part of our whole trip! Canadians can get good deals on airfare and rooms but whew those tickets!! My child is 12 so it works out to 3 adult tickets and we are staying 8 days so it seems a little outrageous. Does anyone else think so? I mean the exchange rate brings the cost of these tickets to over 1500.00 dollars! Love Disney but I'm looking for good information about ticktet discounts for Canadians.

Disney has offered this deal for several years now and they have never extended it before so I don't imagine they will this year. It's basically to boost attendance during the slower times and July is definitely NOT a slow time! They don't have problems selling tickets in July, that's for sure! The only other discount I can think of is if you are a member of the Disney Club. They offer a small discount but nothing substantial.

Have fun despite the high costs...it's worth it in the end!!

I had so badly wanted to go in the spring for so many reasons! The weather and the discounts being the main two. However, it is becoming impossible for kids to get a few days off school for the Disney experience due to our "rigorous" new curriculum and standardized testing. The schools just have fits if you even suggest such a thing and truly there is so much work the kids can't catch up. So, we in Ontario with older kids (12) are left with July and August travel. Just thought I would explain in case you thought I was NUTS asking about July discounts! lol. Thanks anyway.

You did mention you were going for 8 days. Don't know if they're all at Disney or not. Nor have I dragged out the numbers & done the math, but if you can't get that Cdn deal (and it sounds very unlikely you would in July) then what about the Annual Passes with a Disney Club discount? You'd have to do the Math, of course. But you only need the 1 membership to get the discounts on all the family's passes. Then try to budget another trip for 51 weeks from this one perhaps? That would really help with the costs if you were vaguely planning another family trip anyway. Don't know if any of the great room discounts are available in July for AP holders, but that would be something to look into then to help with the final monstrous total.
Or sometimes scenarios where 1 person has an AP to save on Parking and get a room deal and the rest of you get 4 day Hoppers or something & plan on relaxing at the great resort, etc. could work. Or even the rest of you go in January next year with the Cdn deal & the 1 person will have their AP already. So 2 trips with some room deals hopefully and free parking. May have to pay for a WaterPark for that 1 person. I mention January because that's what we're doing so our 4 Ontario kids (Kindergarten to Grade 8 then) will only miss that first week back -- no standardized testing then!

As you can probably tell the calculator has been worn out around here (& my eyes!) reworking different scenarios. Good luck with yours. It is doable! And your 12 year old will get so much out of a well-planned family vacation to Disney (it is an international trip!) that I wouldn't worry about the in-class schooling missed that 1 week. Debbie Willis's site has a good page on some of the educational aspects of such a trip to help you & the teacher visualize & plan for it.

Oh, and the cost of the DisneyClub membership (look for a discount on that first) even in US dollars will be made up for us I figure with discounts on rooms on our trip down and some of the other discounts. & hopefully our campsite (we won't have an AP).

Make sure you buy your tickets here in Canada (the exchange rate works out to about $1.45 when comparing prices here to buying passes in U.S. dollars in Florida).
Have you thought of a 5 day park hopper plus or a 7 day park hopper plus? They allow park hopping for 5 or 7 days plus admission to the water parks or pleasure island. The 5 day gives you 2 "pluses", the 7 day gives you 4 "pluses". You can buy these at the Disney store:
5 day + is $379.67 Canadian, 7 day+ is $471.89 Canadian. The regular annual pass (for parkhopping only) is $536.41 Canadian. The annual pass has to be ordered ahead of time as it takes at least 3 weeks to get them in. If you are going for 8 days, the 5 day hopper will probably be more than enough - 5 days at the parks, and two days at the water parks. The parkhopper passes are good for life, so any leftover days can be used on a future trip. I hope this all makes sense - it even sounds confusing to me. LOL! Oh - and the prices would be about 5% cheaper if you have the Disney Club.

Great info on the ticket prices, Nancy ! Are you planning a trip that you haven't shared with some of us ??? I hear the first 2 weeks of October look especially nice (lol) -- maybe you and dh should look into it !

That was wonderful info! I can see that even at over 1500.00 CAD the annual passes are a better deal.
