Canadian DISer's Weight Loss Get In Shape Thread

Not only did I get to see him, I got to touch him!!! We were sitting on the floor, in the 10th row! Then, we rushed the stage when there was only about 3 songs left...we got the BEST pictures of him. Seriously, I've been to lots of concerts, but I think that was one of the best concerts I have ever been too....and the age groups ranged from 6-90. And he was SO funny! Anyways, good times...I recommend him to anyone!

That's really cool! I am embarrased to say that I have only ever been to one concert and it was an N'Sync concert when I was 13 or so. :o My friend was in love with them and I thought they were alright so I went with her to the concert. We had pretty good seats and the show was entertaining.

I love concerts...but careful of which ones I go to....I went to Nickelback and was on the floor....big mistake. I cannot tell you how many times that I got kicked in the head by crowd surfers!

I went to Live, and got into the VIP room afterwards...that was pretty cool! I got to party with them. I got to party with the Trews too and with Black Eyed Peas (although, they were so drunk, I am sure that they had no idea that we were even there!).

Anyways, I don't go to as many as I once did. Now, life gets in the way, and I think I mellowed out in the music I listen to as well. I also have more responsibilities, and truthfully, half the time I don't even know someone is coming to town until somebody tells me! But, I still like going....when I get the chance!

Anyways....hope everyone is having a good day and sticking to their diet plans....

Ok everyone....lets keep the momentum going....

what is everyone doing for workouts???

I have to admit, when I workout, I kind of workout hard. I hit the weights and the cardio pretty hard. When I am in workout mode, I go hard. I trained really hard all last year, but due to surgery, I had to stop for awhile, then I got really lazy...now it's just getting that motivation back to continue the workout...

So, the workout that I am doing right now is kind of like a military training type of workout (it's the same workout regime that Halle Barry did for Catwoman (she looked SO good in that movie))....you go really hard for about 20 minutes, then the cardio starts - minumum of 10 minutes - I usually go for about 30.

What does everyone else do??

I am not into high impact exercise so I usually walk for about an hour and I also use my elliptical trainer and sometimes I will throw in a workout video. I try to switch it up as I have read that that helps keep you from plateauing early on.

So far the week is going well for exercise. I have been walking about 10km each day. That will be a little harder to do when school goes back. I am usually really tired the first week back with the kids.

Josh Groban  Saw him when he was here in Ottawa back in February. He puts on a magnificent show for sure!

I've been kind of rotating - one day I'll walk for about half an hour, the next, I'll walk for two hours, and do this huge hill that takes about 20 minutes itself just to get up because it's so steep.

Since graduating, I need to keep up with dancing (now that I don't get to dance 5 times a week anymore :(), so I'm either taking jazz or ballet once a week, and my boyfriend and I take ballroom and latin once a week. He and I are also considering getting a pilates DVD and doing some work with that.

I have a trainer I go to once a week and yesterday was my day:yay: We hadn't worked out for about 2 wks since we were both on holidays. I had a really good workout and felt great after and today the pain is setting in. Not too bad though. Just enough to let you know you worked hard:cool1: I have a bad back so I mostly try walking but today did nothing:rolleyes1 I am having the worst time sleeping. The last two nights I've been up until 3 am and have to be up at 7 am with the kids  Usually I have no trouble falling asleep but I wake up 1-2 hrs later, restless and up for 2-3 hrs. Needless to say my energy and mood are sapped. Any sleep suggestions:confused3 I have tried the little blue pill that did nothing for me. Keep up the good work everyone:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :grouphug:

If you are having a hard time sleeping, try an over the counter natural medication called melatonin....you can get it at any drug store/pharmacy. Works great and it's not supposed to leave you "needing" it every night.

Good morning!

I am not feeling too well today so I only did a 30 minute walk this morning but I am happy that I fit in some exercise even if it was not for very long. Hopefully I will be feeling better and be able to go out for longer to make up for today.

For breakfast I had a bowl of All-Bran cereal, a cup of skim milk and half a banana.

My plan for today is to work on my resume so I can apply for a publishing job in Toronto. We'll see how that goes:rolleyes:

Everyone sounds like they are doing great. I weighed in at WW today. I stayed the same but I am pleased with that considering that I quit smoking on Monday and have been snacking all week. Nothing too bad but always something. I am going to see how this week goes, hopefully I won't have too much cravings or be so b*t*c*y. I have come up with a back up plan but hope I won't have to use it.

Wish me luck on trying not to :smokin:

Keep going with the nonsmoking:cool1: I'm sure it's hard but you will feel and be so much healthier in the end:banana: Thanks for the advice re melatonin. Someone else mentioned that too. Today I'm really B****Y:laughing: and I don't have a good reason. I even slept last night (with the help of 2 Gravol). I'm so hungry today. I had a bowl of multigrain Life cereal and skim milk for breakfast and then was out all morning and starving by lunch so we stopped at McDonalds. Poor choice, for me and my children. Supper is another meal to try and make better choices.:sad2:

Thanks...was quit for 5 days shy of 3 years then took it back up...don't ask...LOL. I wish that I hated it... it would make it easier but I truly enjoy having a cigarette(don't smoke a lot) Oh well I won't stress and I won't beat myself up either. Right now I have made weight loss my priority, just decided to quit smoking so that when in Disney we wouldn't be bothered not smoking there.(don't smoke in the house or in front of kids so figured we wouldn't be doing it in Disney). Like I said hopefully will tackle weight, and smoking at the same time but ain't gonna torture myself.

official weigh in is tomorrow...how is everyone doing with their progress???

We just got back from the trailer. I blew it BIG TIME yesterday and the day before. I ate too much and not good stuff. Being at the trailer and visiting with my brother messed me up! We are going out for dinner tonight, but I'll make good choices! BACK TO IT! Blessings, Sandra

I'd like to join as well if I can. The problem I have is that I have Hashimoto's disease as well as Fibromyalgia. I am also constantly anemic. The Dr's really don't know what to do with me. I do go to the gym usually about 3 times a week. I go on the treadmill and do weights. I also play baseball. I don't have a lot of room in my stomach so what I did when I bought my new dishes is make sure I had luncheon plates. Those are my plates. I can't have wheat, and can only have a little bit of organic milk. If I want a dessert basically I have to make it. Since I am so busy I don't make desserts very often. I think for me maybe writting everything down will be a help. Also, I really do need to drink more water. I need to cut down on the amt. of sugar I use in my tea. Before I saw this post I had already started to do that so will continue to improve. The funny thing is though that even though my eating didn't change when I joined the gym a year ago and I was going up to 5 times a week my weight steadly went up. I do love veggies but with my system I can not have a lot of salads. I eat as much as I can.

Hi tigercat and welcome to our little support group.

It must be tough with all those restrictions you have but I'm sure that if you keep at it you will be able to reach your goals!

Good morning.

Well I did pretty good all week and stayed with the right amount of points (doing the WW plan). I lost 4lbs:woohoo:.

I have excercised regularly this week and even had a few too many treats but it all worked out in the end. Now just to keep it up:rolleyes1 .

OK time for my Sunday weigh in. I am down 1 lb this week YEAH!!! It was a tough week a lot of stress and my Nieces 6th birthday! Keep up the good work everyone. It really helps checking in with you guys once a week makes me rethink my choices when I crave icecream. Thanks for the help:grouphug:

Lost 1 pound this week! I have been drinking oodles of water and have given up my 3 cans of coke.

Congrats on the loss! The change from soda to water will definitely help; it really made a big difference for me when I first changed over.
