Canadian DCL Cruisers

DCL has just confirmed today that due to the changes that the Bahamas has made regarding vaccination requirements, all passengers over the age of 12 must be fully vaccinated. Same doses of Pfizer, Moderna, J&J & AZ are accepted, mixed Pfizer & Moderna are, AZ and a Pfizer Moderna mix are NOT considered vaccinated. This is until November 1, 2021.

The Bahamian requirement is to be fully vaccinated, but it's CDC that says mix doses is not considered fully vaccinated. They are constantly updating, so hopefully for those who do have mixed doses (that our government had encouraged), CDC will recognize the mixed doses.

I think originally they didn't permit mixed doses even between the mRNA vaccines, but now they are, so...

The Bahamas accepts mixed doses, so it is DCL that is not allowing it; this is the Bahamas requirement per the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism website: https://www.bahamas.com/travelupdates

At this time The Bahamas Government will only be accepting vaccines by Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca

Mixed and matched second doses of COVID-19 vaccines of either AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna or even Johnson & Johnson are also accepted.

The Bahamas requires everyone over the age of 12 who can be vaccinated, be vaccinated. That's new change. If DCL didn't comply then they wouldn't be able to enter the Bahamas, including calling on their private island, Castaway Cay.

I need the US CDC to pull its finger out and recognize that mixing AZ with mRNA IS sufficient, IS fully vaccinated and IS safe 😈😈
Early research results from all over the world concurrs that it's probably actually better than single-type. From an efficacy point of view, I'm not sorry for a minute to be mix-vaxed and I'm proud to have taken the AZ as soon as it was available, for my own good and the good of the community. But who among us saw this dumb result coming? :sad2:

I had a hunch it would, so I waited until I could get second pfizer. After all the back and forth NACI was doing over AZ, there was no way I was taking its advice with this.

In NS, we could sign up for whichever vaccine we wanted. I know folks in some provinces didn't have a choice when they showed up to their appointments. It was take "X" or leave it.

It's all so messy...

It was first-doses that were the problem in Alberta. Pfizer and Moderna were being used for seniors over 65 and young people aged 35-54 when AZ was contraindicated for them due to the tiny risk of clotting. We were implored to take AZ if we were in the middle age range and they rushed to get at least one dose of something into as many people as possible. Myself and many, many people I know happily complied - we're all just so desperate to do whatever we can to end this Covid nightmare.

When it came time for our second doses, all the AZ stocks were gone and there was no plan to acquire more. We did have somewhat of a choice of which mRNA we wanted. I went with Moderna simply because it was the first appointment I could get. I have no fear whatsoever that I'm well protected.

We our September one just cancelled and have the back up scheduled for May 2022.

This is pretty much exactly how it was in BC too. Sigh. I'm more than thrilled to be protected of course. And I just hope that soon the rest of the world figures out just how well its working to be mixed doses
