Canadian Buffoon's Semi-EPIC Vacation - 10/29 - Link to new TR!

Oh really!
Where is that?

We got them here https://ww2eats.com/ . It one of the restaurants attached to the museum.

I thought about you Tuesday night. We celebrated both girls birthdays this week. Tuesday night we went to the restaurant that Danielle work at & Michelle worked before getting her big girl job. The oysters were the special.

And people to get in front of.
My daughter, my daughter.

Is that really tea???
Good point...I've asked myself that a few times...I think if the quantity of sugar molecules is greater than the quantity of tea molecules, it should be labeled as sugar water (tea flavored). :lmao:

not jealous...

at all...

nope...
Sorry. You'll get more in a few months

Who the heck wants to win efficiency???
Nobody I know.

I know of one person who's done it.
I just looked up online and found some tips. Might have to take that as my next challenge. First was getting galactic hero on BLY (Buzz Light Year) and then getting double GH. The last challenge given to me by another disdad was get the exact score (533,100) on both sides. That was tough, but I did it (yes, I have a picture because it DID happen). Now, I guess getting the top car at TT is a good challenge. I haven't given up on TSM, but it is significantly harder to get a top score there solo.

You do!?!?!
I've wanted one for... ever.
But I'm to chicken to spend
that amount of money on
something that I'll almost certainly...
No... Certainly crash and destroy

five seconds after starting it the first time.
Oh no...not an expensive one at all...quite the opposite. It's a small one I got from Five Below. (or is it Five and Below?)

I've heard that song too
often lately.
Got tired of hearing it.
Interesting...not a song I hear often, but popped into my head when the talk of applying came about.

I can see that.
And yet... I can single rider TT,
but not Soarin'.
Hmmm... might use that Tier I

on neither in the fall.
Well, I can FP and single rider TT. If I want to get up early, I can rope drop, single rider and FP TT.

Startled a bit, but not scared.

I have never been recognized
(except by people I was going to meet.)
For me, I'm usually trying to weave my way through the tourons who walk 5 abreast (slow) or the parents with double wide strollers side by side, so I am looking for gaps more often than looking at faces. It's very possible I've passed people on this board (or celebrities or legends in their own mind) without noticing.

That menu... Um...
I'm kinda drooling right now.

Of course you thought of me.
You're madly in love with me,
aren't you?

I am not at all surprised.

;)

:lmao:

My daughter, my daughter.
Yes. Exactly.
Good point...I've asked myself that a few times...I think if the quantity of sugar molecules is greater than the quantity of tea molecules, it should be labeled as sugar water (tea flavored). :lmao:
::yes::
"I'll have the lemon flavoured
sugar water with a hint of tea, please."
"Yes sir. Just pass the tea bag through the water?"

"No. Just wave it at it."
Sorry. You'll get more in a few months
Yussss...
Nobody I know.
Correct.
I don't want to know the person
who does.

Getting that exact score...
Twice!... would be tough.

I haven't given up on TSM, but it is significantly harder to get a top score there solo.
I've heard that some of the
big ticket scores only come
with cooperation.
Oh no...not an expensive one at all...quite the opposite. It's a small one I got from Five Below. (or is it Five and Below?)
Ah.
Was thinking of the ones where you
can control it in all directions.

Never heard of Five Below.
Interesting...not a song I hear often, but popped into my head when the talk of applying came about.

I'm the same way. I tend not
to see faces.

Which will be... how soon?

I'm hoping 3 months, I will also apply for a promotion after those 3 months.

Let's see... You're about 4' tall there...
So... two years old?

;)

Give or take aha I will let you in on a secret, I was fairly average height, maybe just above average until I hit 13ish, puberty decided it wanted me to be a giant. I grew 19 inches in 12 months.

Terrible!
I suffered, so!

I'm glad you survived.

No FPs before park opening.
And with the tier system,
I pick Soarin' since you can

single rider line TT.

Ooooo I didn't connect the dots. :O

Neither, actually.
It was sea life trivia.
Um... like
True or False.
The male seahorse carries

the babies.

Oh, that sounds fun. The answer is true!

Nah. Just charging prior
to lift off.

Ahh good good, I feel like that much cord would be a hassle to wrap up.

I'm hoping 3 months, I will also apply for a promotion after those 3 months.
Not long!
You'll be there in no time.

Your parents must've been
pulling their hair out.
"More pants? We just bought pants!"
I'm glad you survived.
Just barely.

Just.

::yes::

Exactly, I just gotta tough out the first little while but Apple is the first company that actually wants my physical sin card, so now I have to get a new one but service canada wont print my replacement paper without my birth certificate which was stolen so now I have to rush service a new one but the thing is Alberta doesn't just send them out. You must go get forms signed by a notary, which I have to courier from BC and then have to wait for the birth certificate to be sent out. SO FRUSTRATING.

They were lucky, I was going through a "gangsta" phase so all my clothes were super super baggy so they were also long. Eventually everything was too short but far too wide. I looked ridiculous but it kept my folks out of the stores for a little more time.

I figured you'd be disappointed about that.

I've seen one guy get a good score alone, but most all the good ones are in cooperation.

Ah.

Never heard of Five Below.
It's a store where everything is $5 or below...at least for now. Im sure it will be like the dollar store or dollar general...they were $1 for everything, but not any more.

Well...
There's a reason I hear it more
than you do.
Interested to hear the reason. PM or text me if necessary.

Yes.

Well, there ya go.
Something to shoot for.

pun intended

Not a secret.
Ever wonder why I know so much
about MASH... or Gilligan's Island..
or any of a myriad of US shows?
Because we get US stations up here,
of course.
Our market size is much smaller and
as such, our production values are
smaller so the quality often
(not always... but often) suffers.
So we watch the US stuff.

Our music industry is similar.
We have great music, but just
by sheer population size, the majority
of music will be US made.
To help Canadian artists, radio
stations up here, must, by law
broadcast a minimum of 35%
Canadian content.
So we hear Canadian music
much more than you do.

So since Signs is by
Five Man Electrical Band,
a Canadian group...
It gets more airtime up here.

Neil Young, Alanis Morissette,
The Guess Who (ironically, American Woman),
Brian Adams, Triumph, Rush,
BTO (Taking Care of Business), April Wine,
Bare Naked Ladies, Steppenwolf,
Loverboy, the list is long...

But it still isn't as big a list as US bands.

wow. That's... wayyyyy too much work.

I uh...think so. Yea I do but really who has their SIN card after a couple of years.

Pretty much their line of thinking, I think...until my mom found my "raps" then the questions about drug use and other falsified claims that I stated in them came to light. Lets just say it was an uncomfortable conversation to have. GOD I was a stupid kid.

That happened a few times. The worst is when you're near the score and you have no idea what a specific target is worth, so "do I shoot it or not". I've got one picture where I had (527000 I think on one side and 999999 on the other). The reason was I went over on the one side and said to heck with it and just got the GH.

Well, there ya go.
Something to shoot for.
Punny!

Interesting. I didn't know there was a thou must playeth Candian law.

If you're a MASH fan (I am too)...take a look here https://www.directexpose.com/mash-trivia-quiz/

I knew some of those...didn't know Rush, BTO, Steppenwolf and Loverboy were Canadian. As I type that, seems as I remember hearing/reading Geddy Lee was Canadian.

Not rock, but I knew Celine Dion also.

And he just got a fairly prestigious

Yep.

Lunch Time

Lunch time!

Yeah, I know.
If you're gonna tour all of Epcot,
you gotta keep your energy up.

Lunch time.

So, yes. Food is definitely in order.

Lunch time.

But look! I took a picture of
a Pluto topiary, just for @Pluto0809.

IMG_1811_zps2xytricr.jpg

Lunch time.

Isn't it amazing that they can do
that with just flowers?
(And I'm sure, some kind of
shell underneath that facilitates...)

Lunch time!

Oh, okay. Better move on.

Hang on. This is a nice photo-op.
Just let me take a quick snap...

IMG_1812_zpsocpurqwy.jpg

Yeah, that'll work. Now just have
to wait for a monorail to come by
to complete the...

LUNCH TIME!!!

Perhaps it's lunch time?

Our first stop, the Citrus Blossom.
Kay (DD18) had asked for the
souvenir Orange Bird cup, so...

IMG_1813_zpsuiij93vu.jpg

Now I know this has been getting
poor reviews (although the orange
sunshine wine slushy has fared better),
but I really liked it.
I mean... a lot.
The fact that it was mind meltingly
hot out might have factored in,
but I still liked it enough to
want another.

But... yes... food.
I grabbed a Crispy Citrus Chicken
with Orange Aïoli and Baby Greens
while Elle tried the Lobster Tail
with Meyer Lemon Emulsion and
Grilled Lemon.
She loved it. And was her favourite
item of the day.

IMG_1814_zpsugmnnplz.jpg

We moved on, tummies slightly
mollified, to Trowel & Trellis.
We were both very stoked to try
Grilled Street Corn on the Cob
with Savory Garlic Spread.
We both love corn on the cob.
And it couldn't be anything but
better with garlic spread on it, right?

IMG_1815b_zps7tbroqvv.jpg

I was right. It couldn't be better.
It was downright awful.
First off... I guess the truth is,
really good corn on the cob
only needs two things.
Butter. And salt.
That's it.
Nothing else.

Nada

Zip.

Null.

So the garlic spread detracted instead
of enhanced.
Also... it was cold.
It should be piping hot, fresh out of
the pot of boiling water or just off the grill.
This was neither.

We tossed the corn, less than half eaten.

We needed something to wash
the taste out of our mouths.
We stopped at La Isla Fresca
and snagged a Tropical Freeze.

IMG_1817_zpsc0f5vhow.jpg

Ahhhh… much better!
We both really liked this.

Suitably sated, we sashayed on.
Elle spotted someone with guacamole
outside of Choza de Margarita and
just had to have some.
She loves guac.
I on the other hand, do not.

IMG_1818_zps2c6bnovi.jpg

She got her order and happily settled in
to savour her purchase.

Just as she was about to eat,
it started to rain.
We dutifully put on our rain jackets,
and opened the umbrella.
I snagged my VIP weather card
and waved it angrily in the air
and it immediately stopped raining.

I'm not kidding. It was that fast.
Feel a couple drops, put on jacket,
open umbrella, close umbrella
(didn't even raise it overhead),
take off jacket, eat food.

And then this happened.
Did I mention yet, the love bugs?
They were everywhere!
Worst I've ever seen.
Apparently it was the worst
Florida's seen in years, too.
(That according to an overheard
conversation.
Take that for what it's worth.
But I can attest that it was bad.)

Elle was just about to pop her first
taste in her mouth when she stopped,
mouth agape, hand inches from her face.

"Hey..." She whimpered.
She put her food down, and...

IMG_1819_zps11ufyohl.jpg

Death, by hot sauce.
What a way to go.
Circle of life.

IMG_1820_zpspvrlmfy2.jpg

We continued our tour around
World Showcase lagoon.
We stopped in China at Lotus House
for some veggie spring rolls which
were okay, but nothing to write home about.
(But okay enough to write about, apparently.)
Elle also got herself a bubble tea
which she pronounced to be:
"The Best Tea Ever".
So good enough to both write home about
and to write about here.
A double mention.

She sipped while we popped into China
to watch the movie.
I had seen it not long ago,
and forgot to ask Elle if she enjoyed it.
I'm going to say yes.
Air conditioning. The great equalizer.

We continued on and these butterfly
houses caught my eye, outside of Germany.
I fashioned an eye patch out of some
paper napkins and took a look with
the one eye I had left.

IMG_1821_zpstdibmv0c.jpg

Passing Germany, we popped into
Karamell-Küche to see if anything
would tempt our taste buds.
I stopped in shock at the size
of the strawberries being dipped.

IMG_1822_zpskpujskxr.jpg

While pretty much everything looked
amazing, we knew we had an upcoming
ADR and managed to walk out
empty handed.

I still don't know how we did it.
I still don't know why we did it.

Here. Distract yourselves with more topiary.

IMG_1823_zpsxvdfdpuh.jpg

And no one can pass by the little
model railroad and village in Germany
without stopping.
It's just not possible.

IMG_1824_zpsc4xqadko.jpg

We moved on and paused for a minute
or two to watch the juggler in Italy.
But... well... I've never really been impressed
with him and have never watched more
than a couple minutes.
Too much whistling and
not enough juggling.

I was hoping to catch VOL as we
passed through and as luck
would have it, they were performing!

IMG_1827_zpsbertgda0.jpg

Unfortunately, they were just starting
the last song of their set.
Still... it was enough for a small taste.
They're so good. Love hearing them.

Moving on...
I had to stop and admire this young
Bougainvillea bonsai.
It was easily one of the prettiest
I'd ever seen.

IMG_1828_zpstr2qjawk.jpg

I also liked the "driftwood" look
of this next one.

IMG_1830_zps3alfnzrm.jpg

And might as well complete the trio
and shoot the nearby ficus, too.

IMG_1832_zpsjmrz1ay7.jpg

I love when there are signs
telling me what things are.
Then I can just roll their names
out as if I had any idea what
I was talking about.

I wanted to try an Ichigo Sun.
I grabbed it and headed inside
to the little rock garden they have.

IMG_1834_zpss4pvxz7y.jpg

It was okay. Not great, not bad.
However, while we were sitting,
enjoying the blessed air conditioning,
a thought occurred to me.
I reached out and gently nudged
a grain of sand with an outstretched finger.
The grain didn't budge.
The entire display was glued solid.

Now I know why it looked so nicely
raked after a day of having little monsters...
er… lovely children being allowed
to drag their hands through it.

After cooling down a bit,
we headed over to France where
once again we were graced with
an air conditioned room while we
watched Impressions de France.
This is one of my favourite attractions
in World Showcase.
It's air conditioned... and has seats.
Oh, and there's a movie or something.

IMG_1836_zpsfplbztgc.jpg

After the break, Elle mentioned that
she remembered playing Kim Possible
in Epcot. I told her that things had changed.
You no longer had to get a Kimmunicator,
but used your own cell phone instead.
And it was Agent P instead of Kim Possible.
We played a bit there in France.
At one point, we needed to ask a CM
at a specific desk for a penny
"for maintenance".
We found the desk, but no one
was there.
Moments later a young lady came
up and asked if we needed anything.
I told her we needed a penny.
She gave us a conspiratorial wink,
handed us a penny and said.
"For maintenance, right?"

Unfortunately, the game froze
at that point, but not before we
got a pressed penny for our efforts.

The game froze again when we
tried to play in the UK.
We gave up after that.

Well... take some photos
while we shake our fist
at our phones which are
being shaken in our other fist.

IMG_1839_zpsxnsyrax1.jpg

IMG_1840_zpswvgtfrwh.jpg

I took this next one thinking
"Okay. Bambi. Sure. Why not."
(Please note the extreme enthusiasm.
I am not a huge fan of topiaries.)
Elle then asked.
"Dad? Why did you take a picture
of Bambi's butt?"

IMG_1842_zpschjqjqj0.jpg

It's a valid question.
One that I do not have
a ready answer for.

IMG_1843_zpsib6yqitt.jpg

We stopped in Canada
and watched O Canada, okay?
I always enjoy that show.
Sure it's a nice little plug
of home... but Martin Short
does a pretty good job
of making it entertaining, too.

We then left World Showcase
for a little bit and walked over
to Imagination which was a walk on.
Imagine that.

IMG_1845_zpsui5f4e2k.jpg

Elle remembered that last time
she had sent some Figment
pictures to some friends.
I told her she could still do that.
She designed her figment,
but when she tried to type
in an email address to send to...

IMG_1847_zpsdvecgnsu.jpg

And no matter how hard she tried,
it just would not type letters
corresponding to anything entered.

We wandered over to Pixar Shorts.
There was an eleven minute wait
until the next show.
I took this photo, because it
encapsulates fathers everywhere,
but especially at Disney:

IMG_1848_zpsztxq9oaj.jpg

Yep. That's about it all right!

After the show, we boarded
a ship to Morocco after a borderline
lengthy wait of 5 minutes, and then
beat a path over to Japan.
We had an ADR at Teppan Edo!
We had both been looking
forward to this.
(As evidenced by not indulging earlier.)

Our chef was a lot of fun.
Of course he did the usual stuff,
like the onion volcano...

IMG_1851_zpsxn78zoco.jpg

And this was the first time
I'd seen anyone order sushi here.
I was very surprised to see him
heat them on the grill!

IMG_1853_zpsj718zbqy.jpg

When he found out we were Canadian,
well...

When he served the appetizer,
he deadpan said. "Bon Appetit, eh?"

It sounded so natural, that I didn't even
notice it at first. Just kinda nodded thanks.
Then I jerked my head up and looked at him
sharply. He just grinned. I laughed.

Later, because Elle was sitting in the corner,
he had to reach far over and a bit over my plate
in order to get her food to her.
He said. "Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry" in rapid succession.
I just thought he was being polite...

oh.

Polite!
Again, the grin.

IMG_1856_zps509nn4fa.jpg

After a very pleasant dinner
(Elle would pronounce this meal
to be in her top 3 for the trip.)
we headed back to Morocco where
we had a much more acceptable
zero minute wait to board a boat.
We just walked down the ramp
and boarded.

Earlier I had secured another FP for TT
and the time was open now.
Except rain clouds were threatening
and I could see lightning in the near distance.
I waved my VIP weather pass and
confidently entered the ride.
It was a walk on with the FP and
we were riding in no time.

IMG_1857_zpst6z2lxwd.jpg

IMG_1858_zpsrs65acr5.jpg

Photopass was working this time.
It would appear that we enjoyed the ride.

421942760_zpsery7tld3.jpg

And with that, we decided to
call it a night.
We made a quick stop in
Mouse Gears on the way out.
Elle bought a few knick knacks
for some friends and something
for herself (I'll show you in the
next update, where I'll have a photo.)
I bought a couple of pens for Kay.

We made our way to our bus stop,
arriving at 8:38pm. The bus arrived
at a fairly reasonable 8:40pm,
two minutes later.

Once at the resort, I grabbed my
camera and tripod and headed
out to shoot some resort photos.

After I finished shooting,
a couple of raindrops pattered
on and around me.
I understood that Disney,
while honoring my VIP weather
pass, still needed to water the
plants.
I retreated back to our room,
and gave Disney the go ahead.

Once safe and dry in our room,
it was time to break out...
The Cheesecake!

Great way to end the day!

Except... for one last little item.

I decided that I wanted to soak
in the bath.
I love hotel baths.
Sure, the tub is frequently shallow,
but you can't beat the unlimited
hot water!
I relaxed and kept the water running
for quiet a while.
Eventually, my head grew heavy
and my sight grew dim.
I got out, dried off and headed for bed.

Around 11pm, the phone rang, jolting
us both out of a sound sleep.
(There's no sleep like a Disney sleep!)

I grabbed the receiver, expecting to hear
that there was some kind of emergency
back at home.

Instead I heard:
"Good evening, this is the front desk.
Is everything all right with your room?"

I was perplexed.
I mean... it's nice that they want to make
sure everything is fine, but...
At eleven o'clock at night???

I answered that everything was fine...

"Sorry to bother you, but the room
directly below you is reporting
water leaking from the ceiling."

Oh. OH!
Whoopsie.
Well, not my fault you didn't
plumb the tub properly.

I explained that I'd had a bath
and that must be where the water
was from.
They asked if they needed to send
someone to clean anything up.
I assured her that we were fine,
said goodnight, hung up the phone...
A brief thought passed through my head.
"I hope that got them an upgrade, at least."

And passed out.

And...
In case you didn't see it
last chapter:

Did you see it
in this chapter?

Coming up... An EPIC day.

I got 35 of 40 right

Impressive. Most impressive!

And he just got a fairly prestigious
award from the government, too.
I had forgotten he'd done a variant of take off with Bob & Doug McKenzie. That should have been a clue. I'll have to look online and see what the award was.

As for getting galactic hero, unless I get a bad gun (or I'm trying to get 533,100 on both sides), it's rare I don't and I've gotten on both sides 7 times now.
