Canadian Buffoon's Hi Low Vacation - South Central Musings

Well then you get it. I have two boys (new to me, I mostly had girl cats) vying for my affection. Tesla and Milo, they're both relatively young but Tesla is the young brat 4 years old, Milo is about 3 years older. They both now join me in the bathroom and want the spot at my feet in the bedroom in the morning. It's rather nice to have two gentlemen vying for my affection$

Surely you are quite used
to men vying for your attention.

I wouldn't do that, I find out first hand how most end so I don't need to!

 Okay.

Well, okay... but it'll cost you
a piece of strawberry rhubarb crisp.

I've always wondered if food would make it to a destination without spoiling if you were to pack it in dry ice and ship it 2 day air.

I don't sashay with Ruby.
It'd just make her feel self-conscious.

Such a shame.

Oh? Okay...
Name five.

1. Krabi, Thailand

th

2. Disney World

th

3. Southern Italy

th

4. Provence

th

5. Bali

There are some things
that I definitely regret.

You're not alone.

It's a glacier.
There are no high places.

I suppose you could wander
off the marked path
and tumble into a crevasse.

You'd be dead....
but you could pee unseen.

Must be why our kids hated road trips.

Mike: "We'll stop at the next tree..."

(The steppe in Western Crapistan has about 2.)

Food goes bad in two days
in your refrigerator?

It's either put away uncovered, under meat that drips, or forgotten. It doesn't matter how hard I try to manage it. I'm outnumbered by numbskulls.

You have to be in it to do that.

I thought Canadians would swim in anything.

You're having far too much fun here.

:lmao:

Okay, so now you know why I
was so hard on you!

Dumb minds think alike! :rotfl:

OH... I'm just getting started.....

;)

Jk... I feel your pain. The difference is that this happens far too often in my world. If I'm not forgetting something, I'm spilling it.

Bribe?
Strawberry rhubarb kinda bribe?

So you DO take bribes. (Easy ones too. )

I've always wondered if food would make it to a destination without spoiling if you were to pack it in dry ice and ship it 2 day air.

I had someone do that for me once.
But it sat for a few too many days.

Zebra domes, actually...
Still was able to eat them...
but just.

1. Krabi, Thailand

th

Beautiful... and never heard of it!

2. Disney World

th

That one's a given...

3. Southern Italy

th

Well... okay..

4. Provence

th

Well... yeah...

Definitely!!

Okay... then... name 87!

:sad2: Sounds very familiar.

I thought Canadians would swim in anything.

Well, sure.
But... I'm thinking of you, here.

OH... I'm just getting started.....

Oh, Lord...

Jk... I feel your pain. The difference is that this happens far too often in my world. If I'm not forgetting something, I'm spilling it.

I don't spill.

Rarely.

Bolognese sauce notwithstanding.

So you DO take bribes. (Easy ones too. )

I ain't seen any yet!

How about a piece of my birthday strawberry rhubarb crisp and a promise to make some should you ever sashay to the PNW?

How about a piece of my birthday strawberry rhubarb crisp and a promise to make some should you ever sashay to the PNW?

I accept.
Provided I get some of that crisp.
No?

Hmpf! Empty promises!!!

But.... It's after midnight now so...

They can ask all they want...

:rolleyes1
Wait till you’re there.

Resistance isn’t futile…
But it can be tough.

He said "Stuff it".
Or something very similar.
Well hay, at least you got an answer…
It’s good to know where you stand.

 Okay, that was pretty funny.

But doing that in the Everglades adds
the fun of being eaten when you fall.
Either by a snake or a croc.

Or both.
A privilege for which I’m certain you could add on a significant up-charge.

Win win!!!
Well, yeah!
That what I was saying.

Last time I was there... in 1978...
they had a Saturn V
lying on its side in a field.
Out in the open.
We drove by and never did get that close so
didn't get a sense of the scale of the thing.

Regret that, but...
I wasn't the one doing the driving.
And there are a whole lot more of them on site now…

z0.JPG

Including a Saturn-I (which is about half the size of the V).

z4.JPG

But that Saturn-V that was on the side of the road…
Well that’s exactly where I remembered it being as well.
But since then they went and built an entire building around it…

z1.JPG

I had no idea they’d done that and was absolutely gobsmacked!

z2.JPG

It was overwhelmingly huge and contained additional exhibit spaces and more artifacts then I’d imagined.

And as another indicator of the scale of the thing…
Here’s just one of the F-1 engines standing by itself back over in the Rocket Garden.

z5.JPG

And this doesn’t even get into the entire museum devoted to the Shuttle Atlantis and the Shuttle program…

z3.JPG

Or the “Heroes and Legends” building devoted to the early research and programs, or the main building with all its exhibits past, present and future, or the IMAX theater, or the other theaters, Firing Room mockups and simulators.

It just boggles the mind…

And I had some vodka to spike it with, too!
Well you should still have the bottle then…
Za Zdaróvye!

I have a story about that, too.
This should be interesting.

I was thinking of Putin all my
money in there.
Should be safe, right?
У вся́кого Па́вла своя́ пра́вда.

You have been seriously mis-lead.
A common theme in my world…

Ahh, but the adventures some of those misleadings have led to

In that case....

Yes! Or... No!

Whichever.
You’ve a politician’s keen intellect, I see.

Never travel with a loaded banana.

You've been warned.[/COLOR][/B]

That'll do it!
How's school going?
You must be done
at least for now?
Or are you doing intercession
or summer courses?

I'm getting close, I'm transferring from my college to a big university here. I'm taking a light course load this summer and working a bunch!

Nice! How long are you in DL?

I think we will only be there 2 or 3 days still up in air.

Good days and bad,
but the good, far outweigh the bad.
And still above ground, so...

I'd say, pretty good! :)

That's all we can ask for! You are also writing a TR so that is great

Wait... DL in August...
And a road trip?
Details! I want details!

DL will be part of our road trip, we are looking to spend 2 weeks in August road tripping down to Yellowstone, Arches in Utah, Mesa Verde, Yuma, San Deigo, Disneyland, San Fran then back up home! I'm ecstatic.

Wait till you’re there.

Resistance isn’t futile…
But it can be tough.

Standing by.....

Well hay, at least you got an answer…
It’s good to know where you stand.

Outhouse?
Basement level?

A privilege for which I’m certain you could add on a significant up-charge.

That pays for the new plane.

A Gulfstream V should do the trick.

And there are a whole lot more of them on site now…

z0-jpg.236141

Including a Saturn-I (which is about half the size of the V).

z4-jpg.236142

I saw that in your over-all photo.
I really have to get out there.

But that Saturn-V that was on the side of the road…
Well that’s exactly where I remembered it being as well.

::yes:: Just out there, rusting.

But since then they went and built an entire building around it…

z1-jpg.236143

Which begs the question... did they?
Or did they build it and then move it?

I had no idea they’d done that and was absolutely gobsmacked!

z2-jpg.236144

It was overwhelmingly huge and contained additional exhibit spaces and more artifacts then I’d imagined.

That thing (well... maybe not that particular one)
actually flew.

Nah. Too heavy. Too big.
It'll never fly.

:rolleyes1

And as another indicator of the scale of the thing…
Here’s just one of the F-1 engines standing by itself back over in the Rocket Garden.

z5-jpg.236145

The engineering in that.

Before computers were
really developed.

Boggles the mind.

And this doesn’t even get into the entire museum devoted to the Shuttle Atlantis and the Shuttle program…

z3-jpg.236146

Thanks for the shot with
the Canadarm.

Or the “Heroes and Legends” building devoted to the early research and programs, or the main building with all its exhibits past, present and future, or the IMAX theater, or the other theaters, Firing Room mockups and simulators.

It just boggles the mind…

So... you're pretty much saying
that this is at minimum
a full day visit.

Well you should still have the bottle then…
Za Zdaróvye!

Two actually... there's a story there too...

This should be interesting.

I'll make a note and include it
in the next update.

У вся́кого Па́вла своя́ пра́вда.

I always speak the truth.
Except when I'm lying.

Honest.

Ahh, but the adventures some of those misleadings have led to

::yes::

You’ve a politician’s keen intellect, I see.

Maybe.

:lmao: I forgot about that one!

I'm getting close, I'm transferring from my college to a big university here. I'm taking a light course load this summer and working a bunch!

Sounds good!
Working a bunch?
Where? Doing what?

I think we will only be there 2 or 3 days still up in air.

You should try it on the ground.
You see more from up in the air,
but you do more down here.

That's all we can ask for! You are also writing a TR so that is great

:goodvibes

DL will be part of our road trip, we are looking to spend 2 weeks in August road tripping down to Yellowstone, Arches in Utah, Mesa Verde, Yuma, San Deigo, Disneyland, San Fran then back up home! I'm ecstatic.

Nice!!!
You'll post pictures?

Sounds good!
Working a bunch?
Where? Doing what?

Yea, need to pay rent somehow, also just got a new kitten that will need to be spayed soonish. I am working at lululemon's call center(I talk about yoga pants all day). Great environment though, honestly look forward to most of my shifts. I could do without 5am starts though.

You should try it on the ground.
You see more from up in the air,
but you do more down here.

We are working on firmly putting it down on the ground. Once it is completely planned I will be much more at ease.

Nice!!!
You'll post pictures?

Yes, I will probably write some sort of trip report if I remember to take notes, if not I will have a flurry of photos.

Yea, need to pay rent somehow, also just got a new kitten that will need to be spayed soonish.

New kitten???? Photos!

I am working at lululemon's call center(I talk about yoga pants all day).

Be still my beating heart!

:rolleyes1

Well, good! (that you enjoy it I mean)
But... 5am starts... that's a bit rough.
Getting off early is nice though.

We are working on firmly putting it down on the ground. Once it is completely planned I will be much more at ease.

Something of that scale takes some major planning.

Yes, I will probably write some sort of trip report if I remember to take notes, if not I will have a flurry of photos.

Good!

Outhouse?
Yep…
The two story model.

A Gulfstream V should do the trick.
You need to dream bigger…

Which begs the question... did they?
Or did they build it and then move it?
Yeah…
Actually, they did build the facility and then moved the rocket.

It’s located on a different part of The Cape and you have to take a bus from the Visitor’s Center, but that’s included in the price of admission. They’ll drive you by the VAB, Launch-Pads 39A & 39B and various other spots along the way.

Not knowing that they’d built this additional complex I hopped on the bus expecting only to be driven by the spot where I last knew it was stored. Imagine my surprise when they stopped at this building I didn’t recognize, set us down in a theater overlooking a recreation of one of the Launch Control Rooms for a film introduction and then “pulled back the curtain” to let everyone into the main preservation hall.

I was absolutely dumfounded.

The engineering in that.

Before computers were
really developed.

Boggles the mind.
And inspiring.
Engineering at its finest level.

We can thank the VA-Bill for a great deal of that mind power
(not bad for a socialist program. )

Thanks for the shot with
the Canadarm.
Thought you’d appreciate that.

So... you're pretty much saying
that this is at minimum
a full day visit.
I’d strongly recommend it.

We spent about six hours there and saw most everything I wanted to see, but I still want to go back and catch some of the stuff we missed or just glanced over.

Two actually... there's a story there too...

Yes, but which truth?

You’re hired!

:lmao: I forgot about that one!
Good thing it wasn’t a pointed stick.

Surely you are quite used
to men vying for your attention.

Actually this is a first. It would have been nice back in the day when I was looking for that, but nope. Never had any human males compete for my attention, should have taken that as a sign.

How do you eat chili then?

When I make it out to DL I'm definitely going to In n Out. We don't have them out here. Betsey said she would take me.
DH wants to go to 50/50 place that he saw on TV. Their burgers are made with half beef and half pork.

I would answer now but My laptop is about to die. DO I still have time?
Sure will

Yep…
The two story model.

Nah. That's for them rich folk.

You need to dream bigger…

f-22-19990601-f-0000l-001.jpg

Nope. That's my run-about
for fun solo trips.

I want the G5 for bringing my friends along.

Uh.... yeah...

I guess I don't need the G5 after all.

Yeah…
Actually, they did build the facility and then moved the rocket.

Figured. Was really kidding with that question.
That'd be more difficult to build it around it.

Cool!
I gotta do that!

Must make this a priority.
It's changed so much!

It'll be in the DL TR if I ever get to it!

Yes, but which truth?

Only one that matters.

Mine.

You’re hired!

Woot!

Wait.... Not sure if I really
want that job...

Good thing it wasn’t a pointed stick.
